Aggressive Driver

Need someone to calm me down a little bit, I had to pull over to sort my son out as he was coughing. I ended up having to pull over on double yellows and put the hand break on etc, whilst I was sorting him the car infront of me left and then another car came along at speed and reversed into the spot and reversed into my vehicle, not hard but enough that the car rocked. I stuck my head out the window and said you have just reversed into my car! He was adamant he hadn't and started to get really aggressive and said he has a dash camera! I said okay then watch it and you'll see that you did, at this point he started to get more aggressive and I was scared so I just shut the door and locked them. He started taking pictures of my car and then walked off.. I'm worried he will report me or something.. I actually ended up crying as he was so aggressive! Was I being unreasonable? I had only been there for a few minutes..

@thenightsky

He reversed into you so I expect he'll be claiming you ran in the back of him. Its a scam thing round here.
This ^^. This happened to a friend of ours recently. Very slow /almost stationary traffic on a dual carriageway. Car in front reversed into him. Driver of other car v apologetic etc and minimal damage to friend’s car. Long story short - driver of other car claimed friend drive into the back of him and said there were 3 others in the car who all had whiplash (there was only 1 other person in the car). Guy from friend’s insurance company who came to inspect the damage said it was really common and insurance company would likely pay the other driver off (£3k) to stop it going to court.

Simple fact is he's driving without due care or attention. He's hit a stationary vehicle regardless of where it was parked.
Substitute car for pedestrian/cyclist etc

Guy is a dickhead.

@JupiterWeb I'm really sorry this happened. What a horrible person.

The most important things - your son is ok, yes?
Is your car damaged at all?

I had a school mum reverse into my parked car once - quite a bump, but she seemed to think it hadn't happened! My car is pretty solid though so no damage done.

Will it have been your bumper that took the bump? Check for deformation/crack, damage to licence plate, all your lights are functioning ok, any movement - can damage the holding brackets underneath. Know anyone who likes checking around underneath cars?
If there's any damage, tell your insurance co asap.

Deep breaths - too much aggression out there x

@AddressLabel thanks - I don't know how I completely missed that. Sorry OP!

My little boy is okay thank you, he is getting over a nasty cold and is only 14 months. I'm okay now I've gotten home and chilled out a little bit. Tbh it was the aggressiveness that got to me more than anything I was already in a flap panicking about my little boy in the back! At the end of the day I know i wasn't in the wrong and he was, can say that I'd be ashamed if my son grew up and spoke to people like that though.
