Feeling really ill after 2nd covid jab

Had my second one yesterday. I feel really bad. I can’t even look after kids properly. Anyone else feel like this? What did you do to feel better? I need to get better quick as I have no help with kids at all. I feel so guilty that I promised to take them somewhere tomorrow, I don’t think I can. I feel dizzy when I stand and just really sick and headachey. Arm hurting too

It doesn’t tend to last too long, 24hrs. I’m on day 10 of Covid and still no better so I sympathise, least my kids are older and can fend for themselves

ASchuylerSister · 25/07/2021 11:32

I’m the same. Which jab did you have? I had Moderna.

xaphan77 · 25/07/2021 11:32

I felt a bit sick and tired the day after my second one, paracetamol helped a lot and I felt loads better the day after

kitkatsky · 25/07/2021 11:33

Same as all illnesses really. Plenty of fluids, rest and paracetamol. I was worse after my second one too but small breastfed baby and hard work older children meant I just had to crack on

I was ill after my first Astra Zeneca jab - like a bad case of flu. It only lasted 48 hours though.

billy1966 · 25/07/2021 11:34

Plenty of water and paracetamol every 4 hours.

Dose yourself.

Give them tv/devices to entertain them.

Do ANYTHING to get through it.

Toast for dinner.

It will pass.

A friend realised her symptoms weren’t all down to the jab. She unknowingly had covid when she got it.

With numbers so high, this is increasingly likely.

I felt like this last week after my second dose of Pfizer (first dose, no side effects!) it did only last 24 hours thankfully. I took paracetamol, set my toddler up with yogurts, crisps and easy & safe snacks with his tablet and tried to nap it off on the couch. Hope you feel better soon

Thank you everyone. I feel so guilty I’ve had to on all day abs just given them pack of chocolate buttons. Just taken paracetamol and tea.

I'm the same, OP so you have my sympathies! First jab was fine apart from the sore arm. Last night was awful (second jab yesterday morning) but gradually getting better. Now mainly just feel exhausted and achy. It is hard when you have to look after children at the same time, especially if you're on your own. I hope you feel better soon!

Fedup12423 · 25/07/2021 11:49

Tv on all day for them I mean

Whatever you can to get through it - no guilt! They’re probably loving all the telly and a bit of chocolate, they’ll be absolutely fine. Have a few days like that then a lively day out when you’re better. Kids love down time too.

Feel better soon Smile

Sleep and lie down as much as you can
Regular paracetamol and ibuprofen
Drink drink drink - water or something sugary
Small snacks every few hours
Most side effects pass after 48 hours

bythebanksof · 25/07/2021 11:56

Yes, I was sick for 24-48 hours after the 2nd Pfizer, same with a few other people I know (but most sail through with minimal effects).
