To ask if I should wake my baby

I've done this all before but can't remember....!

9 month old girl has first stomach bug. Didn't eat many solids today (obvs feeling off), breastfed before bed at 7pm. (She usually sleeps til 2-3am ish but last night slept through funnily enough). She woke at 11.30 so I changed her nappy and fed to resettle but she couldn't get back to sleep ana started vomiting at midnight. She had two attack of vomit 12 and 12.30, but she wanted to go back to sleep right after all that and the cleaning up so I didn't offer another feed.

She's fast asleep now. Keep her asleep for gut rest or try to lift her for a feed soon? My instincts say leave her to sleep it off as it's only one attack not hours and hours - but I know dehydration can happen quickly.

Thoughts?

Ps: with my first I was a massive hypochondriac and often took her to hospital for a basic vomiting thing so I'm trying to be calmer (I had cbt) and trust myself ana what my baby is saying but I find it hard.

I would keep a close eye on her but I would not wake her for now. A sick baby needs their sleep.

That's what I thought, she's more likely to sleep it off altogether and take a good feed in the early morning if I let her rest I guess

Yes let her sleep. A nurse once told me that the sick looks a lot but they will still have food / milk to digest. Hope she feels well soon

My son had a bug and stopping fluids for a couple of hours was the only thing that gave him respite from the vomiting. Unless you already have concerns about her weight or hydration, I'd let her sleep and get some yourself!

Notimeforaname · 24/07/2021 01:35

Leave her be. Hope she feels better soon op!

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2021 01:35

Aww, poor wee pet. Let her sleep, she needs it.

YukoandHiro · 24/07/2021 01:36

Thanks all. No weight or hydration concerns - she's a right chunk on the 95th centile and had a wet nappy when I changed her after the vomit so she should be fine.

Right, going to try to get some rest. Hopefully she'll be feeling better in a few hours.

....Aaaand now my 3 year old is vomiting too. So much for any rest for me.

Sad Oh dear - poor things and poor you! Cover everything in towels and wait it out!
