Can you cancel an ambulance?

Hi,
I called an ambulance about an hour ago because I had a very fast heart rate, dizziness etc. I'm on my own with 3 children and felt so close to passing out that I panicked. Heart rate is now normal, no pain anywhere, feel OK. Should I cancel the ambulance? Can I even do that? I feel like a fraud but really felt unwell when I called. I don't have anyone else to ask for advice. Thank you.

Yes. Ring up and explain.

Deffo. Call the number back. They will thank you for it.
Glad you’re feeling better Flowers

Have you been drinking enough fluids? My heart speeds up when i haven't drank enough water. Drinking a pint of water normally settles it.
If not though and it happens again definitely get it checked out

Yes you can cancel. Panic attack maybe? Or a reaction to the heat? If it happens again go to the GP. Do your DC know how to call an ambulance? I'd teach them even if very young. Don't actually call 999 just role play it.

Thank you all for being so kind. I felt so stupid.

Called back and spoke to a clinician who was happy to cancel but has arranged for OOH to call me in the next 24hrs to check and said to call back if I feel unwell again.

I think it might have been a panic attack. Life has been pretty stressful lately but thought I was managing ok.

Good tip for teaching my children how to call an ambulance. They are all under 5 but will be good to teach my eldest.

Hope you're ok. I find chamomile tea good for stress. You can get it mixed with other stuff if you don't like it plain. Chamomile and spearmint is especially nice. Or just add some honey.

I thought that too. It's a slow emergency so you still need support.

Thanks

Glad you're getting seen soon. I'm pretty sure that I had to cancel an ambulance once. They were extremely nice about it.

I cancelled one once as well, they were nice enough about it.

I will say though it's not a great sign you waited an hour.
