Just that really ... shocked by putting on a lot of weight just recently and keen to get it off by following Michael Mosley's 800 calories a day.

Love to know what your homemade favourites are!

My long time favourite is this - but I can't think of any more at the moment! Too long since I've done this.

  • a couple of chopped warm boiled eggs with capers, salt and cherry tomatoes

Breakfast is berries with yoghurt, lunch poached eggs, spinach and mushrooms. Dinners are Slimming eats Cheeseburger pasta (probably too many kcal for 800 kcal per day), salmon with veg, hunters chicken, paneer curry.

Am doing 1200 kcal per day. Get most of my recipes from Slimming eats website.

I lost quite a lot of weight by doing loads of walking. (Never stuck to anything more energetic.)
Make it manageable- three sensible meals, no snacking (or maybe something really small which you really like each evening as a treat). I couldn't have sustained an 800 calorie diet for more than a week or two. 1500 calories plus walking is maybe more do-able?

Egg whites cheese and onion frittata/bottomless quiche for breakfast (less than 200cal)
Skimmed milk with calorie free coffee syrup (either hot or cold)
Jack Monroe's brie and bacon rissotto but with the cooking bacon reduced to 50g per person and rice to 40g per person. Instead bulk it up with 100g per person mushrooms and 80g per person peas. Green beans and broccoli on the side. Yum and pretty good for less than 500cal
Egg white, Philadelphia style cheese and spinach tortilla wrap (old el paso or tesco tortilla from the world food aisle are only 120cal a wrap). The how to is here although mine came in at around 250cal with the wraps above

Yes 1200cal and eat back half your exercise calories is much more sustainable

loveyouradvice · 24/07/2021 01:13

Totally agree about sustainability - I'm going to go for a couple of weeks at the lower level and see how it goes and then decide. Im a big Michael Mosley fan and agree with his principle that losing a lot fast is inspiring and then adjusting to a higher calorie sensible eating approach is my goal at the moment. But so long since I've really done this I'll review as I go.

Loving the sound of these meals!

Virtual pizza - tray bake of diced peppers, onion, tomato, tomato purée, diced ham , 3 or 4 sprays 1 cal olive oil salt, pepper, cover with foil and bake for about 20 mins. Top with one slice mozzarella. Return to oven for 2-3 mins till cheese melts

Think meals not snacks. The idea of mm f800 is to allow your body to use the energy (fat) it has.
It's set around lots of green vegetables plus good sources of protein.
