Covid.

  • Burning sensation and smell in nose
  • ‘Tasting’ burning (as if you’ve eaten a bunch of ash)
  • Sinus pain
  • Slight headache

For more context our nanny just told us she has it and I’ve ordered a test.

For me, it was very much like a really heavy cold for 3-4 days with a bad headache, then my sense of smell and taste disappeared. The cold symptoms and headache lasted for a couple of weeks; my taste returned after a few weeks; my sense of smell still isn’t fully back 6 months later.

As I understand it, it manifests itself differently in different people, and there are variations in the symptoms between the variants.

The first symptoms for me were a sore throat, headache and temperature. I didn’t lose my sense of taste and smell until day 5. I’ve also had nausea the whole time too

The people I know who had it all had different symptoms. One didn’t have any symptoms at all, only found out because she had a positive LF. She was CEV and middle aged, this was before the vaccine rollout so she was told to shield and that she’d be very ill if she caught it. Nope, no symptoms.

Other one had a ‘bit of a cough’ but that was it, no fever or anything else.

Another felt like he had the flu and was bed ridden for a week. He had a severe headache, cough, body aches, fever, chills, diarrhoea and nausea. He couldn’t eat or really move for a week.

I don’t know anyone who has lost their smell/taste or anyone who has been hospitalised.

Everyone seems to start differently. For me it was temperature, headache then everything going black like I was about to pass out. Taste and smell didn't go straight away, I lost them as the cough started.

Positive LF, initially just lost smell and taste but eventually I developed wild headaches, nausea and exhaustion. I was back on my feet after the 10 days isolation but had post viral fatigue/headaches for about 6 weeks after. My smell and taste came back to normal after 6 months.

Unbearably dizzy - felt like I was going to call off the sofa I was lying on - and a vomiting and diarrhoea episode which was quite spectacular but thankfully very short lived.
