To be concerned about my ongoing eye twitch?

It’s a really strong eye spasm, in my right eye. Happened every few seconds, it’s really uncomfortable and feels like my eyelid is being pulled or tugged at.
I had it for about 2 weeks a few weeks ago, then it went away, now it’s back.
The same eye feels sore and a bit itchy too.

@Potpourri23

I get this if I'm not getting enough sleep.
Same.

I’ve had this on and off for years, regardless of sleep. If you look at me, it just looks like the area underneath my lower eyelid is lightly spasming, but feels like what you describe. One (ex)friend once asked if it was going to stop because it made her feel seasick Hmm; never been more “wtf” in my whole life. If you get enough sleep and you get checked for vitamin deficiencies and have none, they can try injecting it with medical-grade Botox, like they do with migraines, and a lot of people have had good results (they use a VERY, very small needle and you barely feel a pinch). It didn’t work for me, though, unfortunately.

I do suffer from chronic migraines and didn’t have it before the migraines.

Did this stop and was it anything serious? Had mine for 4 days now

I get this all the time, both eyes though not at the same time. Drives me nuts.

Americano75 · 29/09/2023 18:12

That's me fucked.

I've always drunk a tonne of caffeine, nothing has changed in my lifestyle and no stress. Just frustrating because I get very panicky when it comes to health and things being different

How long has it been happening to you?

Sammysquiz · 29/09/2023 18:26

I had this too and went to the GP as it was so annoying. He said it could be a Magnesium deficiency, I started taking a high-dose of it, and my eye hasn’t twitched since!

BrownTableMat · 29/09/2023 18:30

I had this earlier this year when very tired and stressed. Lasted a few weeks and went away after I got some rest. I take magnesium supplements daily so don’t think it was a deficiency.

UpTheAnte · 29/09/2023 18:33

Mine twitched for 3 months! Doc wasn't bothered but I mentioned it to the optician and he said it's quite common in eye strain. New glasses did the trick for me.

I know, that why I asked if it stopped and if there was a cause...

Off and on for years but this last bout has been pretty consistent for months. Been a very stressful time to be fair.

XenoBitch · 29/09/2023 21:44

I get this too, but it only seems to happen when someone tries to engage me in small talk. Is really weird.
