To be thoroughly fucked off at all of the sickness (not covid)

I’m sick again. It’s a nasty cold type bug and I feel wretched. I have a sore throat, congested sinuses, I’m coughing up green phlegm and my head is pounding.

This is off the back of something similar 2 weeks ago.

My little boy picks stuff up, brings it back and then it rips through the household.

He’s had 3 hospital visits in 3 months

So I’m now home feeling utterly vile, DH is coughing and little one is coming out the other side with so much energy I can’t believe it.

We have had multiple PCR tests and I LFT twice weekly so it’s not covid.

I don’t know why I’m posting really. I just feel so miserable.

We had this too. DH first, me second. He's fine, I'm still coughing 3wks later. Also Negative PCRs and LFTs.

They are saying these are symptoms of the Delta variant, but if its not picked up on tests there's not a lot we can do!

SpacePotato · 23/07/2021 09:11

Me too. Since around March, me and my youngest have had similar.

Once sinus infection after another. Not covid.

One wiped me out for 3 weeks. It's exhausting.

Heidi1976 · 23/07/2021 09:11

I had the delta variant and have subsequently had this nasty cold going round. They are definitely different viruses (as it's unlikely I'd catch the delta one again so quickly and tests negative) but are quite similar in terms of symptoms.

Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:12

It’s so shitty.

I thank god I’ve got a good employer who’s just told me to get better but still it’s hard feeling so bad for so long.

Lots of you too in the same boat. I feel so pathetic.

girlmom21 · 23/07/2021 09:13

I'm the same. Had a horrible cold/virus a couple of weeks ago and it's back this week.
Luckily everyone else in my house hasn't got it this time. Last time it got us all.

thewreckingcrew · 23/07/2021 09:17

I've had that cold last week OP. Felt awful, but luckily it only lasted a week. Was convinced it was covid, but PCR was negative.

Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:18

My older boy seems ok so far but fuck knows 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think we’re going to have to tag team sleeping over the weekend to try to shake it.

Yeah DH and I felt like hell a few weeks ago. It lingered on and on. I think our immunity is shot because of lockdown.

Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:20

@thewreckingcrew

I was convinced we had it. I’m glad we haven’t got it of course but it’s nasty nonetheless.

Yep know exactly what you mean!

All of the previously mentioned lovely coughs with ever so nice green gunk did the rounds here.... not once but twice! So the original person appeared to come down with it yet again to start the cycle going round!

Horrible, nasty bugs. I'm also convinced due to lockdown and now children are mixing again all of their germs are multiplying and spreading like wildfire! As usually all healthy in here and never tend to be bothered by colds/flus etc but it was so bad.

Younger ones had a dreadful cough and one was struggling to cough up the gunk so itsounded like they were choking instead as too little... several scary nights due to this.

I haven't appeared to have had it for some strange reason even though the younger ones would have shared it with me due to co sleeping and coughing all over me etc... I had been feeling completely wiped out with sore heads but no cough for me but everyone else had a shocking one...

Younger ones now have the permanently gunky nose back again which constantly seems to be there no matter how much you ask them to blow nose and wipe it..

Pumpkinbrew · 23/07/2021 09:30

They were also extremely hot to the touch and had fevers also. A really nasty bug. It completely knocked my extremely wild child out with it which I've never seen happen before

My younger came out in a rash and was the quietest I’ve ever seen him. We went to A&E and he let them do all his obs without complaint which never happens.

He didn’t really move for about 36 hours. This is the child I affectionately refer to as ‘The Wrecking Ball’ or ‘Little Rhino’

Absolutely, my toddler has been constantly ill since January, millions of tests so never COVID. He's also been hospitalised twice in the last two months! Children especially are definitely getting more ill than ever because of all the isolations. This is why it enrages me when people go on about COVID, there are other viruses which are making people really poorly!

Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:43

What I really thank my lucky stars for is having an understanding employer and a decent sized garden and enough money to buy what we need without difficulty.

I think about the people like this who can’t then afford the medicine, shopping, time off etc.

I’m depressing myself now.

Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:43

The garden because it’s occupying my now recovered toddler whilst I sit useless on the sofa downing Berocca.

We are just coming out of the other side of this OP....still got a residual stuffed nose/slight cough. I could have written this exact same post, me and my husband took longer to recover than our toddler and its been hell trying to parent a hurricane toddler whilst feeling crap! so I fully understand you being fed up Sad hoping you feel better soon
Merryoldgoat · 23/07/2021 09:45

@Mulhollandmagoo

Oh no - sorry you are going through it too. It’s just awful.

Thank you for the kind words Flowers

YANBU! My toddler got the hacking cough and congestion that's going round, gave it to me, then ended up in hospital last week with viral wheeze. Not covid as he had a lab test done. There is so much less immunity at the moment.

HotMummaSummer · 23/07/2021 09:58

DD was suppose to start nursery soon so has been to 2 short trial sessions. The first she got a stinking cold, which meant many sleepless nights (on holiday!) And which I caught then DP. The second trial session she was in contact with a positive covid case and now has to isolate for 10 days, no symptoms so far.
I dread to think of all the things she'll pick up when she starts properly!

JumperooSue · 23/07/2021 10:17

My toddler has had this on and off for about 6 weeks, occasional low grade temperature, so much snot and a chesty cough, is fine for a week and then it all starts again! I had it mildly but not as bad as her, like you, multiple negative covid swabs which is hard enough to do on a toddler but whatever big it is, she’s really struggled to get over it

TiddleTaddleTat · 23/07/2021 10:22

Same here, DD brought this home then DH got it and I finally showed symptoms (the day after ending school term - teacher). Been housebound for a week, cough, temp, green gunk, sore throat etc. Lost my voice now. Definitely not COVID as had PCR and multiple LFTs . Think we've just lost the usual immunity to these bugs due to all the Covid measures

fairyannie · 23/07/2021 10:25

Noro virus is rife around here.

Just gone through three households (close relatives).

So that's on its rounds.
