DDad in hospital. How on earth do I do this?

AIBU to ask how I can get a radio and headphones set up for my dad who is in hospital and dreadfully bored.

The requirements are:

  1. No wires
  2. Must have headphones
  3. Must have batteries

Bought DAB radio with Bluetooth and Bluetooth wireless headphones but they don't talk to each other. They both talk to my phone, so they're working Hmm but Dad wouldn't manage trying to send everything via a mobile...

Any thoughts?

Havr you switched off all other bluetooth devices such as your phone? I got stuck in a similar loop where the headphones defaulted to my phone?

I seem to need an audio jack Bluetooth transmitter but I can't find any in argos or curry's and I need to have it tomorrow so can't order online Confused

Does he have WiFi access? If so, can you install a radio app on it and give him that with the headphones bluetoothed to it? You could make it the only app on the phone so it’s easier for him to navigate, if that’s a problem? And once the headphones are paired up with it he shouldn’t have to keep doing that.

That was meant to say ‘on an old phone! ‘

Is it possible that the headphones won't connect to the DAB because they are connected to your phone? You may find that if you go to the bluetooth setting and disconnect the headphones, you'll then be able to connect to the DAB.

Has he not got a hospital tv?

The radio is free on there

Yes I'd give that a go, I've had a similar issue before and this fixed it.

Did you ever manage to get this to work?

Hope your dad is okay.

I would just buy a small portable radio, they take batteries or can plug in to charge up and a pair of headphones. If he has a bedside TV in hospital the radio is free and then staff have headphones.

DogsSausages · 31/07/2021 12:44

Depending on what channels he likes Argos do portable FM or DAB radios, no faff.

Bluetooth will only connect to one device. If the headphones are connected to your phone, they won't connect to the radio. Disconnect from phone and then try again.
