Passive aggressive neighbour?

Neighbour appears nice to your face but I'm wondering...
We've had a baby and our neighbour is really considerate by texting us if they think they may make noise and wake baby. I responded once by saying don't worry about it, it's only loud random noises like bangs etc they generally wake baby.
What do we get today just after I've settled baby for a nap? Stupidly violent loud random bangs Angry they've never made them before. Just seems to coincidental?

To clarify I've always responded politely to them it wasn't just one response

Tbf a screaming baby is more irritating than a few bangs that's happened just one day...

Bangbangbang21 · 22/07/2021 11:58

@TheCanyon our baby has never screamed and rarely cries. We are so lucky!

Sounds like a coincidence. Unless a pattern emerges I wouldn’t set too much store by it.

MotionActivatedDog · 22/07/2021 11:58

How would they know you’ve settled the baby for a nap?

ChainJane · 22/07/2021 11:59

Sounds coincidental. A "stupid violent loud random bang" to you might be "assembling some flat-pack furniture" or "a quick but necessary DIY task" or countless other things to someone else.

user1473878824 · 22/07/2021 12:02

This is so hugely paranoid.

HoppingPavlova · 22/07/2021 12:04

God, I hope you weren’t inferring to your neighbour that they can’t make random large bangs as you have a precious sleeping babyHmm. That would be extreme cringe.

Hankunamatata · 22/07/2021 12:06

Your being totally paranoid

ZeroFuchsGiven · 22/07/2021 12:09

Don't be ridiculous.

MaizeBlouse · 22/07/2021 12:11

Hey OP you j it the world doesn't revolve around you, right? I doubt your, seemingly nice neighbour, is banging stuff about to try and wake your baby.

Also your baby that has never screamed and rarely cries will turn in to a toddler who screams and cries because the wind changed direction, so don't count your chickens yet!

Worldwide2 · 22/07/2021 12:14

I think your being very paranoid. Your neighbour sounds very nice and they cant possibly know when your baby is sleeping.

Sportysporty · 22/07/2021 12:24

You be a paranoid new parent - it will pass

PyjamaFan · 22/07/2021 12:27

You are being paranoid.

How would they know that your baby is asleep? Unless you think they have secret cameras in your house?

Grin
Bangbangbang21 · 22/07/2021 12:30

Ok, thank you from the paranoid new parent 😆

I've got downstairs neighbours like this. They think I deliberately make loud noises to aggravate them but I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. It's poor insulation and wooden floors that are responsible in my case. Not surprisingly, they also think I don't hear them - I do, I just don't complain about it.

Bangbangbang21 · 22/07/2021 12:35

I think I'm just aggy and paranoid due to the lack of sleep. I'm also more conscientious than most and forget this.

OP posts:
MadeOfStarStuff · 22/07/2021 12:36

You sound extremely paranoid

Why on earth would an otherwise nice and considerate neighbour deliberately try to wake your baby? How would they even know you’d just settled the baby?

Bangbangbang21 · 22/07/2021 12:52

I think you need to get a grip

Helendee · 22/07/2021 14:02

I understand where you’re coming from but unless they know that baby is sleeping it must be coincidental.
