Another evening sat up until gone 12 o’clock with my 5 year old as he spent the day with his dad today and he let our son sleep from 4-5pm.

I wouldn’t mind but as he goes home for a nice relaxing evening and early to bed ready for work tomorrow, we are sat up until the early hours because my poor boy is wide awake and ready to burn some energy! I have to get up at 6am to go to work and my son is going to summer camp. We will both be exhausted tomorrow and it doesn’t matter how many times I ask his dad not to let him sleep…. He ignores me. He thinks he is getting at me but really he’s just screwing up our sons routine and tmro he will suffer.

I am so frustrated and fed up.

This is what happens when you procreate with idiots 🤷🏻‍♀️

Never a truer word spoken! 😔

Ooh nice bit of 'victim blaming' there. Possibly he wasn't an idiot or gave no sign of it prior to procreation? So sick of this smug bullshit blaming the woman who is doing the actual care for not having a crystal ball.

cadburyegg · 21/07/2021 22:49

Typical - single parent thread and the first comment is from a smug married blaming the woman for a man’s actions.

YANBU OP. It’s very tough having to co parent with an ex who hasn’t a clue. 😔

Fedupmumma83 · 21/07/2021 22:51

Thank you. That’s kind of you. I’m a hard working single mum and I’m trying to juggle everything to provide and care. It’s not easy at the best of times and nights like tonight just make life so much harder!

That’s really really annoying. Next time could you say ‘I’ll pick him up at 4 so he doesn’t sleep’ or is that not possible due to work? It will get easier as your ds gets older and won’t be so tired he’ll need a nap but I know that doesn’t help now..

Fedupmumma83 · 21/07/2021 22:53

It really is! 😔 thank you

God yea. Those stupid single mums not predicting the future. odfod.

@Fedupmumma83 its so infuriating isn't it! My ex has a habit of bringing the (teens) back at gone 11pm, having fed them a toddler sized meal at 5pm. So they end up needing a decent sized meal after they should be asleep.
At least he's only had them once in the last 18months so it hasn't been an issue. But it used to wind me right up.

Good for you. Go polish your medal.

Men who pull this shit and use their kids like weapons are wankers.
When he said he'd had nap so late could you have come up with s reason your ds could stay there for the night songs endures the consequences of his action? I'd be looking at changing contact arrangements so he keeps them overnight of he has them after midday.

Fedupmumma83 · 21/07/2021 23:12

My little boy won’t stay there, he’s to frightened!
I did think about phoning him in about an hour just to let him know that all’s well and all’s awake! 🙂

His dad goes to bed about 9pm so I expect he’s having lovely sleep without a bloody care in the world! 😤😤😤

Whilst were just in the midst of building a pirate ship out of pillows on my lounge rug! 🤣😫

At 5 I'd be putting him to bed at usual time. Let him play in his room quietly or read a book (if he can!) Or even play on a tablet. But 7 is bedtime so he goes to bed.
