Building work

Lots of building work going on next door. Fine during work hours. Contractor arrived at 9:00pm and starts hammering like he is tunnelling to the other side of the world. I go round and point out it’s a bit late to be starting up. Get told it’s his job and I should fuck off. Wrong to tell him the same back?

I guess speak to the council tomorrow! Did his van have his company name on it? Take time dated photos and record the noise?

Bloody hell, I'm normally on the side of people having work done. MN seems to hate them, stupid responses like they should've bought a bigger property etc.

But apart from an emergency repair to start at 9pm is ridiculous!

What are the owners of the property like?

The guy who owns the place is really unpleasant as well. I think maybe earplugs and hope that working late means it’s over more quickly.

You are absolutely not being unreasonable! I posted a few months back about something similar. Next door have had building work since January and it's been hell for us. Partner not being able to get on work calls because of the noise, I've missed stock deliveries because I haven't heard the door, dogs been scared to death.
DIY at 6am on a Sunday, builders working unsociable days/hours, and it's so loud and intrusive! Once they hit the wall that hard all of the stuff fell out of our bathroom cabinet. The builders themselves have been so inconsiderate too, leaving our gate wide open, blocking access, shouting, screaming, singing etc.
We never had any notice of this from the neighbours either, they don't care because they don't have to live with it.
After all this though, they've still tried to stop us doing some minor work in our garden and putting up a fence 😂 and to top it off they filled up my green bin.

I'm about as close as you are to telling someone to fuck off 😂

Noise rules says building works shouldn’t go on outside of 8am-6pm. Complaint to your council time.
