I'm currently 34 weeks and due to move house in around 2 weeks. I'll be approx 30-35 minutes from my current GP. The midwife and receptionist at the new surgery have advised i stay with my current GP until I give birth then switch but I don't really understand why. I have some pregnancy related conditions which require prescriptions being completed but they are otherwise managed by the maternity hospital so I'm not having any GP input otherwise. I've been told the midwife hub will be the same in my new area so that will remain consistent and otherwise if there are any issues with the pregnancy, I'd go to the maternity hospital not my GP anyway.
I'm confused why it would be an issue. The switch will take 2-3 weeks and my previous GP wouldn't drop me until registration was complete so I don't understand the issue... unless you wise mumsnetters can tell me something I'm missing? AIBU to switch now?
