I have a coat. DP bought for herself $300, (shared finances) decided she didn't like/want it so said I could have it as I ws going to buy one similar. TBH I would have rather chosen my own but it was bought. So that's the coat. I use it for work everyday. She sometimes borrows it to walk the dog. That's fine too except.... tonight I left it in the car for my convenience tomorrow. For the record car is on drive, right outside front door. She asked where the coat was. I said in the car. She replied, You're never helpful, are you? in a not too pleasant tone. AIBU to think she was out of order?

I'm thinking this isn't really about a coat...

Hankunamatata · 21/07/2021 14:48

Hmm and your point is?

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 21/07/2021 14:49

Does she often talk to you like that?

Googlewasmyidea1 · 21/07/2021 14:50

Eh? So she doesn't like the coat or want it but wears it to walk the dog. It's your coat which you've left in the car for use tomorrow and she's got the hump?

This can't be the whole story

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 21/07/2021 14:50

And yes. She was rude. And like pp, I think this isn't about the coat. There's resentment there. The coat is a symptom iyswim. Any idea why she talks to you like this?

MittensOnKittens03 · 21/07/2021 14:50

This isn’t about the coat is it

Bluntness100 · 21/07/2021 14:51

This seems like a petty squabble. Everyone snaps sometimes. No one is perfectly behaved all the time. Why are you posting about it?

Do you know the op? Or are you making leaps? Or have you never ever snapped at a partner?
Aprilx · 21/07/2021 14:59

I don’t understand the exchange.

Tinythumbelina · 21/07/2021 15:11

Thanks. That story was, all it was. I took exception to being snapped at because I left the coat in the car. That led onto I never do anything for her....

Here on MN no one ever rows with their partners, or gets crabby, or loses their temper.

Back in the real world it's 30°, there's a pandemic, everyone is hot, crabby and stressed. It's bound to have an affect on peoples moods. If it's just that, not usual, and you are generally happy just let it go and get on with life.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 21/07/2021 15:39

Sometimes
Normally if I'm pissed off over other things.

No I don't know the op

But what I can do is read.

And when someone says "you're never helpful, are you?" As the ops partner did, it's a pretty safe bet there's something going on that's fuck all to do with a single occasion of a coat being feet away in a car rather than on a hook.

LtDansleg · 21/07/2021 15:45

Is she normally like this or was she in a bad mood?
