If anybody knows please tell me. I am double vaccinated but travelling with my 14 year old daughter. Does she now need a negative test within 24 hours of travel or does she use my vaccine status and not require one?

Eurotunnel and Gov. UK seem to suggest this is the case but nowhere else.

We took eurotunnel on Tuesday. We’re double vaxxed (and post 14 days after second vax) and all but the 3 year olds needed negative tests.

I think she will need a 72hr pcr.

friendlyflicka · 19/07/2021 19:48

From 18 it changed again. Now I don't need test but she may or may not need antigen test within 24 hours of travel. The advice is contradictory about whether she does. I have one booked for her, so I suppose safer to do it.

She uses your vaccination to not quarantine. And we went Wednesday not Tuesday!

newuserolduser · 19/07/2021 19:50

Oh- eurotunnel wanted one. I don’t think the rules needed one

Your 14 year old carries your vaccination status as cited here:

"Fully vaccinated passengers (or children aged 12-18 travelling with a fully vaccinated adult) will not be required to present a negative test result to enter French territory. Proof of vaccination status will need to be presented at border controls."

So you just need to show proof of double vaxx (plus other things which they don't really look at).

This changed yesterday from the 72hr pcr test that was required and I wouldn't be surprised if it changed again, so keep an eye on it.

@towdenbursgi That is the impression I get but not from the French web site above

@towdenbursgi it is very stressful. Going for a family reason and the rules have changed 5 times since I booked the flight. Spent a fortune on different tests that keep then being made redundant

The eurotunnel is correct. It was updated yesterday. The website you link was updated on 5th July 2021 so is out of date. It also says it is being currently updated.

Make sure you check- there was a thread last week where someone was travelling somewhere and the UK info said something completely different about entry into the second country to what the second country said! It was a travel journalist iirc who pointed it out in one of the Sundays and got the govt UK website to change its wrong info.

I understand. I travel back and forwards all the time (work) and seem to spend most of my time analysing different websites about requirements. It appears to be deliberately ambiguous and there are so many exemptions and disclaimers to put off tourists imo. If you are flying can you speak to the airline to check? I took a test on Saturday. Travelled today and it wasn't required.

Thanks so much. Currently on a queue for Ryanair. Seems to be moving slowly

P&O advice we received yesterday said if you are double vaxxed neither you nor your kids need PCR. Children travelling with you have the same vaccination status that you do (but not if travelling unaccompanied), says P&O. I hope they are right as we now cancelled our PCR!

friendlyflicka · 20/07/2021 20:06

Good luck. I think I am going to keep her test just because I want to make sure we get there
