Would you hold a hen/stag in London

In August, one week before the wedding?

(Covid risk to the wedding being the potential concern)

YABU - too risky, someone is bound to catch Covid, I wouldn’t do it
YANBU - it’s fine - go for it

I would if all the hens would be happy to delete the Covid app Grin the rest of Mumsnet will probably call me a granny killer

It really depends on where you all live (if you're based in London then having a night out isn't hugely risky, but you might consider it higher risk if you're travelling in from a different area).

Also, is the alternative holding the do elsewhere, or going without one?

MyFloorIsLava · 19/07/2021 15:02

I would hold the hen or stag at least 3 weeks before the wedding at the moment if its an option, rather than risk wiping out the bride or groom and all of their guests in one fell swoop and totally ruining the wedding. Doesn't matter where you hold it; doesn't the NE have about 750 cases per 100,000?

TBH London is not (at the moment) the riskiest place, but I'd say it's best to avoid travel if you can if you're not local.

No plan B currently.

Live in SE in an area with fairly high, and rapidly rising cases but most attendees are home working.

One week before? No. Wouldn't hold it anywhere then. Srsly would recommend hen and stag to go into self- isolation 10 days before, esp as both wfh. Cases are going to be so high. The wedding is the main event, don't risk that!

EssentialHummus · 19/07/2021 18:37

Anywhere, 3 weeks before. Otherwise no. I’d do without it tbh.

Agree with you all - thanks for comments.

I don't think the location is important, it's the timing that's the key.
