To think 10 days self isolation is 10 days

And not 10 days plus an extra 9 hours to punish you further for being an obedient citizen.

Last in school Friday 9th July 3pm.

10 days takes us up to today at 3pm but school letter says we have to isolate until midnight tonight?!

AIBU to take my DS out at 3pm today?

No you are not being unreasonable, you are the parent do what you think is right for you and your family. Enjoy your day out Smile

It's the Friday itself then 10 days, that's why you'vr been given tomorrow as the date he can go out again.

I think it’s always calculated in whole days for simplicity - t&t would otherwise have to know when people left venues etc and just too complicated. But I cannot imagine anyone is going to do anything about you taking him out at 3. Just call it a pilot scheme you were briefly looking into…

I read that the day of contact is day zero so you start counting from the day after. So isolation would finish for her tonight and back to normal tomorrow.

isolatedetonate · 19/07/2021 13:42

But surely it's the last possible contact was 3pm when he was last in the classroom on that Friday and it's 10 days from your last contact?

Where is the extra 9 hours coming from

dementedpixie · 19/07/2021 13:47

Friday is day 0 and the the 10 days starts from Saturday. Isolation is up ay midnight on the10th day which would be midnight tonight

In this example YANBU as you know the last possible contact was 3pm when school finished. If I was you I’d be happy to go out today after 3.

It’s usually done in whole days because, say, you’d checked in at a cafe at whatever time, t&t don’t know when you left. If you’d be out to the cafe and some shops and seen friends, you’d not know when the contact was. Hope that makes sense!!
