To ask if you would get a new washing machine?

I bought my trusty Beko over 7 years ago back when I was single and 6kg was more than enough. Fast forward till today and it's still going strong, if a little prone to swallowing colour catchers and then not draining... Husband has become a dab hand at fixing it though but everytime says we should get a new one.

I've always replied, it still works so why waste the money, but now that baby number two is expected to arrive in the next month I am starting to question if it wouldn't be more sensible to get a newer and bigger machine?

YABU - it works fine and 6kg is enough for now
YANBU - you'll wish you did it sooner

It would be pretty wasteful to get a new machine in the circumstances you describe. I'd keep it going for now, either until it dies, or until you know for sure that it's not fit for purpose. A newer machine won't do anything different - you'll just be able to fit a little more in.

I guess if you can find a grateful home for your current machine, it's less wasteful, but please don't scrap it.

When I moved house I treated myself to one of those Samsung smart washing machines and my god I'm so glad I did!! You can pause it and add stuff to the washing and the spin is so strong the clothes nearly come out dry! It was over 500 but its a luxury that I'm so glad I bought!

Plus you could probably sell yours on! You won't have to do as many washes either!
