To be annoyed with the neighbours' noise

My neighbours have 7 children. The younger one's are 3,6,8 and 11, they also have a teenager and 2 adult sons.

The younger DCs went away last Sunday, they came back today and since about 11am they've been in the garden, screaming/shouting and fighting. One of the adult sons went out to ask the 11yo if he was ok but he didn't tell the younger DCs off for fighting. I don't usually mind their noise but their parents usually tell them to stop fighting but they haven't today!

Aibu?

If my DCs are being too loud, I tell them to calm down and if they're fighting I tell them off.

Their parenting is up to them! You do you!

What's your AIBU?
Yes it is a bit off that your NDN DCs have been screaming and shouting in their garden all day disturbing everyone's peace.

Except for telling the NdN (adults) that the sound is really carrying so could they please ask the DCs not to scream and shout- and they might not listen- theres not much you can do. Have they a paddling pool out? Mine when younger always were noisiest when there was paddling pool or water slide involved in their play. I did constantly get them to keep noise down but they'd get hyper excited so would forget and be reminded, forget themselves and be reminded...

I've got a ' screamer ' next door, can't just play he has to shout and scream all day.a window was knocked out and patio doors out in 27cm from our window without planning permission it's a nightmare.
I feel for you op,there's another six weeks of this I'm afraid..white noise, ear phones, only option unfortunately.I agree it's lovely to hear children laughing and playing but when it gets to the constant screaming it ruins the chance to relax in the garden.Try talking to the parents if you get O on with them?

Well it's just one day so yes a bit. I can see how it must be annoying though.

Just ask them yourself if they can keep the noise down a little bit.

I don't think they have a paddling pool out, the 8&6yo are arguing over a truck I think and the little girl is wondering around the garden. No parent is supervising either, one of the adult sons was but now he's not so the 3 of them are in the garden on their own!

Jesus Christ, 7 kids!?

We have neighbours like this. Poor DH is on nights and sleeping in this heat is hard enough. Next door have an enormous temporary pool thing which the children scream and fight in all day. They go to bed at 8pm and the adults fire up the hot tub and karaoke, sponsored by Stella and weed. They usually carry on until 1am ish.

I can't wait to finish our renovations. We're moving to the middle of nowhere.

Buy them a TV

YANBU. Noise is bad enough when it's music or power tools but family rows is depressing, they should keep the noise down or go inside. Selfish.

It is very hot out at the moment, all my teens have flakes out all day and going out for walks in cool evening or insisting on paddling pool in garden (luckily they're not noisy).

I do feel for you OP as their parents ought interven if they are screaming - with 7 DCs they might have acquired hearing loss now or be used to noise inside they don't notice outside noise- but hopefully these hot and bothered days are not going to last all summer. We love a bit of sun but several of us pasty lightweight people in U.K. also like a couple days of rain to clear the air inbetween!!
