To ask for some advice re. Jobs

I currently work in a job where I'm underpaid, but have great flexibility and (some) colleagues are great. The job is fun but I've been looking elsewhere as I can't stand some of the managers (nepotism is very bad), the pay is poor in dubious about the company's long term future.

I have an interview for another job next week. If I get it, it will be a £5k pay rise.

But I also have another interview in 3 weeks, if I get that it will be a £7k pay rise. I prefer this job to the other job.

Obviously, I may be offered none of the jobs. But I'm already worrying about what to do if I'm offered the first job. Would I have to cancel the interview for the second job? It would be bad form to accept and then interview for another job (and potentially pull out of the first job) wouldn't it?

Would I be a fool to turn down the first job?

And then sometimes I worry I'll regret leaving my current job. AIBU to ask what you would do?

You're overthinking. Go out there and smash both interviews then 'worry' about it then. It will be a nice 'problem' to have Smile

Exactly what Hmmmmm said 😁. There will be time between offers negotiation and contract signing to stall. You do what's right for you, have no loyalty to companies, they have none for you!

Thanks for the replies. How would I stall in negotiations - in my experience employers want you to accept there and then when they call to offer the job?

Accept the first job you’re offered if it’s acceptable to you. If you’re offered the 5k increase one and all’s ok take it. If you’re subsequently offered the 7k job and all’s ok take that too and tell the 5k job you’re rescinding your acceptance because a job you’d interviewed for before accepting unexpectedly came up with a better offer. The 5k job might huff and puff but realistically there’s little they can do. They can’t claim much loss when you are such a recent employee.
