Hen do abroad?

Friend is getting married next July, I’m one of 6 bridesmaids. Friend and 4 of bridesmaids are desperate to go abroad and won’t take no for an answer. Myself and other bridesmaid think it’s mad (she’s an nhs worker and has already said no due to risk of having to isolate etc). I’ve said no too as an due with DC2 in October and won’t want to leave him/her for 4/5 days in april/May time.

Is it just me or is booking a hen do abroad insane? And if 1/3 of your bridal party can’t come (we could both do a UK based hen) would you reconsider? For reference prices up abroad will cost between £300-550 pp depending on cost of covid testing etc.

Just want to know if IABU saying no.

Sorry to clarify- I mean insane at the moment with covid etc. I know some people are v anti hen do abroad but it doesn’t usually bother me when you can get cheap flights and accommodation but everything is crazy with covid!

Your not BU at all. Let them go if that’s what they want but let them know with plenty of notice that going abroad is a definite no from you.
You can arrange a night out in the uk when they get back.

It just depends on your feelings towards it. Some people are desperate to go away and not too worried, others are more cautious. Personal circumstances also contribute to this too - you having a new baby and the other bridesmaid an NHS worker are good examples. Either way, it's up to the bride to go ahead with it or not. Personally, I'd rather go somewhere local where everyone could attend, but again, her want to go abroad may be mean more to her. I don't think anyone is right or wrong to be honest.

Its not insane, its very normal- you just dont want to go & thats fine.
