The last thread I foun was ol so I mae a new one

How long oes it take for drain flies to go. I foun a few two days ago I got some drain unbloker liquid and put it down my sink plughole and then flushe it through with boiling water and then poured bleach own the plug. Three hours later I return to the kitchen to find a few more and they come out of the plughoe and attach themselves to the wall.

Seems such a waste of time if they just come back.

We had them on and off for years

Tape up the overflow with masking tape and leave it there, keep the plug in the sink when it’s not being used.
Flush the drains weekly with proper One Shot drain unblocker. Anything ‘milder’ than this will not kill the larvae

Eventually, our builder discovered the drain had cracked under the floor so they only fully disappeared when it was fixed but we reduced them by 95% with the tape plus plug plus caustic soda routine

I think I need to get the local pest control man round to get a very strong potion put down there. Thankfully there are only about three of them and I get rid of them and a few hours later I fin about three or four more

thanks

You can buy OneShot from any hardware shop for £5
You pour it down the drain, leave it for 15 mins and rinse it away, it’s not complicated
Bleach and hot water won’t do anything to shift them, any Google search for ‘getting rid of drain flies’ would have told you that

update. I was going to try one short but I do not need it. The boiling water and bleach worked and the drain flies have gone. I have not seen a single drain fly in three days
