Hi everyone need uplifting on day 6/14 and feel a bit better each day some days better than some but I just can't wait to feel like my normal self I can't taste and smell that's annoying me

I'm just tired of this right now my son who's 6months is already recovered and is back to his old self which I'm so happy about now waiting for my turn 😭

I'm day 7 and just started being able to smell things very very faintly.

Get well soon!

Fl0w3ry · 16/07/2021 16:50

Took me about 10 days to get my taste back, and about 3 weeks to get my energy levels back. Took about 4 weeks to get rid of the cough.
Hope you recover well.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish.

My husband and I had covid back in January 2021 and neither of us have our senses back.

We can only taste and smell disgusting things which makes finding edible food a chore!
At the moment the only things that taste 'normal' are cereals, pancakes, Crumpets, new potatoes and bacon 🙈
Eating is a complete nightmare in our house.

Other work colleagues who my husband caught covid from have all gained their senses back fairly quickly within a matter of weeks so fingers crossed you will be one of the lucky ones!

Hope you feel better soon x

I feel for you OP. I'm now on day 12. The worst thing for me (apart from the bastard cough) was losing my taste and smell and I was terrified they wouldn't come back.

They started coming back very gradually from day 9/10 and I can almost taste and smell normally now.

It’s about 6 weeks since I got out of hospital, and while my senses of smell and taste are partly back, I’m still breathless if I do anything, and really tired.

LysistrataVickers · 16/07/2021 18:33

I really feel for those with loss of or altered smell and taste. I found it quite weirdly debilitating without them and was delighted when they came back.

Choconuttolata · 16/07/2021 18:40

6 months in and still don't have full smell or taste back. Also have weird phantom smells. Still breathless, still fatigued, still have vertigo, heart palpitations and heart rate too high, too unwell to work. Don't rush back to activity too soon if you feel fatigued or unwell, long Covid is not something you want to have if you can help it.

I think my cough started to improve on day 10 x

TwinkleToeMatilda · 16/07/2021 21:00

I’m on day 5 and the no taste and smell is seriously doing my head in. To not taste a single thing just makes eating a chore... my energy levels are definitely nowhere near back to normal. My partner was back to normal (apart from taste and smell) after day 4 so he luckily recovered quickly.

About 9 months.

A year.... well. A month the “acute” phase but I have long covid, and have been not 100% for just over a year. Feels like it’s got better since I was Vaxxed though, which is apparently being reported quite widely.
