Covid during pregnancy, what do I do?

Just tested positive for Covid at 7 months pregnant. Apart from the obvious isolation, rest and fluids, I can't seem to find any information on what if anything I should do.

Fairly mild symptoms so far thankfully. Should I inform my midwife? The hospital? Or do I just ride the storm and wait for it to pass. For some reason there doesn't seem to be much info at all for covid during pregnancy on the NHS website even though pregnant people are classed as vulnerable.

Hi Op,

So sorry you’ve just had a positive test.

You definitely need to tell your midwife; and then I guess take their advice since there’s nothing specific online

I hope your symptoms stay mild Flowers

Inform your midwife, maybe give 119 or your GP a call for advice? Thanks Hope your symptoms stay mild.

Wynston · 15/07/2021 22:27

Hope your symptoms stay mild op.
I think a call to the midwife to let them know your situation. X

I would let your midwife know, but honestly I doubt she’ll be able to give much helpful advice.

If you don’t have one, you might want to order a pulse oximeter off Amazon. If you start feeling breathless it’ll be really helpful to be able to easily check whether your oxygen levels are ok.

Youdiditanyway · 15/07/2021 22:41

Yes to the oximeter, we have one and it’s a fantastic tool. Take paracetamol, keep drinking lots of water, keep taking your prenatal and eat well. I hope you’re ok. Maybe try the midwife to see if they can offer some further advice.

Unless you feel very unwell, you just treat it as a normal illness and stay home until you feel better.
There’s be no midwifery concerns unless you become very unwell.

I'm in the same boat... 33w+2.
Tested positive yesterday on pcr after hubby positive on Monday.

Its a nightmare! So worried.
At the minute I've minimal symptoms, I would say like a bad hay-fever day- head cold, sore eyes, itchy throat.
Just hoping thats all.

Spoke to midwife unit, just told me to rest and contact 111 if I need to.. x
