To take the annual leave anyway?

I had a half day of annual leave booked for this week just in case something cropped up which hasn't occurred. I could cancel it but at the same time, I'm bloody knackered. I'm falling asleep in my evenings at DC's bedtime and so grumpy. DH thinks I'm being ridiculous.

I've got 5 days left until April with my leave all booked in until December already. Have you ever booked time off just for a rest or some peace and quiet?

Take a whole day

Do it. Yes I use days here and there to rest and recoup!

I imagine that the reason your husband thinks it's ridiculous it's because he is not exhausted and the reason he's not exhausted it's because he is not doing as much as you are.

I mean what other reason was there to take annual leave during covid.

I used to be the sort of person precovid that thought it was a waste to take annual leave and not do anything. That mindset has completely changed during covid where I had no choice but to do just that.

Of course you can take a day off just to have a rest.

I wouldn't. Im a single parent and when i feel like that i give myself permission to be really lazy and not do any of my routine housework. Say you do that for Friday and Saturday. You come home from work on Friday, order take out or get ahead and get pizza in. You come in from work, drop your stuff in the hall, get a drink, sort the food. You dont tidy up anything. Nothing. You fall into bed. You get up. Get tea. Get breakfast. Maybe think ahead and get easy to deal with breakfast for everyone. You work around the mess. I bet my 4pm on Saturday youll be bored of being in a heap and accidentally make the house ship shape again. And your annual leave will still be in tact.

This is exactly, precisely what annual leave is for, surely!! To relax and recuperate when you're feeling over tired. Take the half day (or a full day if you can) and enjoy!
