Going into hospital and clingy toddler

I’m going into hospital for a procedure next week, I’ve been waiting for it for a long time (covid set it back somewhat).
My worry is my 2.5 year old. He’s soooo clingy with me, he cries when I leave the room, it’s utterly draining.
He’s going to be with his dad the entire time, at home, with all his toys and books etc.
I should be in hospital for 2 nights, if all goes to plan and no issues.
I’m really concerned about how he’ll be with being away from me for so long and not really understand where I am overnight or in the morning when he wakes up.

Has anyone had a similar situation?

It's a phase they go through. He'll be fine. Enjoy the break from it if you can

Not quite the same situation but I went into hospital when my DD was 5. She still often slept in my bed. I was sick with worry how she would be with her dad. It was hard for her but she also adapted. She was safe, cared for and was with a parent who loved her. She was fine. Your little one will be fine too.
