If you're not going to isolate when 'pinged' by the test & trace app, why bloody download it in the first place?!

Just that really.

So many threads.... Should I isolate.... Do I have to?....

Because I would have 1 year ago when I downloaded the app. I wouldn't now.

lughnasadh · 11/07/2021 13:13

I suppose peole used it for the checking in.

The 'pinging' is interesting I suppose, although I'd ignore it too.

You'd get a sense of how common covid might be in your area if you were out and about a lot with bluetooth on.

Most of the 'should I isolate?' posters are just attention seeking/virtue signalling though.

Herbie0987 · 11/07/2021 13:16

I cannot download the app as my phone is too old. No chance of getting pinged.

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 11/07/2021 13:18

Not downloaded the app and give a fake number when I check in.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 11/07/2021 13:19

I downloaded it just to get into few places. It has very quickly gone. As soon as i didn't require it, I was done qith "tUrN On YouR BLueTooTh"

BitOfANameChange · 11/07/2021 13:24

A lot of people use it for the checking in bit, and also for the updates on the rules.

I don't have it, as the bluetooth tracking is unreliable, which is why it's not mandatory to isolate if the app pings you.

I have a neighbour I don't have any contact with, yet I got pinged when they tested positive. I ignored this because as I said, no contact at all, I don't speak with them, don't meet them, etc. I couldn't have caught a virus from them through the adjoining wall, but the bluetooth does work through walls.

(And I'm not anti social, I have good relations with other neighbours, but these keep themselves to themselves.)

RaindropsOnRosie · 11/07/2021 15:11

Even when I hadn't left the house for 3 weeks I got pinged multiple times. I live in the middle of nowhere without even any pedestrians nearby. I'm not wasting time isolating if my regularly taken tests are negative.

It's totally bizarre, do they not know you can turn off the Bluetooth bit or even delete the whole thing. Surely the majority of people have never ever used the pinging bit, I don't get it either
