Can I disagree with decision on test and trace?

Just wondering if anyone had the same situation as me:-

Just come out of isolation following a positive Covid test, have been poorly but now fine. 3 days later I am notified by test and trace as a close contact, someone has given my details as I don't have the app.

I disagree I was a close contact as it was outdoors and I did not spend 15 minutes within 1-2m of anyone there!

Can I dispute this with test and trace and has anyone had any luck with doing so?

I've also just bloody well had Covid so I'm sure the chances of getting it again within a week are pretty low

This is your 2nd post. Just ignore like the other post said to!

Not seen other post, but if an actual person has contacted you it is a legal requirement to isolate

MediocrePenguin · 10/07/2021 18:40

I put the wrong title and it looked like it was a post about Royal Mail 😬

I understand it's a legal obligation to isolate so what I wanted to know is if I can challenge the decision with them and get it reversed?

Tell them you weren't there

MediocrePenguin · 10/07/2021 18:44

I was there though but I just don't think I was the definition of a close contact.
Wonder if I can tell them this and they'll let me off?

I'm worried about just ignoring it because of the fine.

Also really don't want to isolate as I only had it last week... surely must be a tiny chance of getting it again so quickly Confused

You can challenge it by calling 119. However if you only need to spend 1 minute within a metre of a positive case to be a contact. Or have a face to face conversation - it doesn't matter if it's outside, you're still a contact.

Thank you that's very helpful! Was definitely not within 1 m or barely within 2 m so hoping I can challenge it

You can ignore the app. Is this any different?

AlandAnna · 10/07/2021 20:41

I was contacted because someone at work put my down as a contact. We were following social distance and PPE guidelines (NHS) and so our infection control said I could ignore it. Which I did. I just informed 119 that is what I was going to do.

MediocrePenguin · 10/07/2021 21:08

I think you can ignore the app but you can't ignore it if you are contacted via test and trace.

Thanks though that's really helpful.
