To ask if you think they would have called by now?

DP has RA and his blood results have worried me of late. His platelets are in the 450 range and although his team are not concerned, I can't help but worry.
He had his bloods done this morning. Would he have had a call by now if the results were abnormal?

Is it refractory anemia?

Were they done at the GP or in hospital?

LemonSherbetFancies · 09/07/2021 19:26

No, rheumatoid arthritis and done at the hospital

Normal platelet range is 150-450 (may vary slightly by lab). And an inflammatory condition, such as RA, could cause him to be at the upper end of normal range. I wouldn’t be looking at platelets in isolation. Is there something specific you’re worried about it being?

As to whether they’d call, I would say that on a Friday evening it would depend on whether something needed addressing or correcting urgently, or whether it might need investigation, but not straightaway.

I wouldn't normally expect a call on the same day to be honest, but if it's urgent you'll have a call by Tuesday.

I was thinking that the blood results are turned around very quickly in hospitals so he would surely know by now if the results were very bad.
His actual platelet reading last time was 461. I read it can be linked to cancer and on an RA support forum, someone else had high platelets and they were asked if they had cancer in their family so that why I am so anxious for him.
