Should I give up?

Hi,

I am a qualified teacher and I have been tutoring for 5 years. I have a PGCE and a Masters.

Since the pandemic hit I can’t seem to find any students. I want to teach online and I am really good at it. I have reviews and when I was tutoring face to face, I was turning students away. The website I used is online only now, so I can’t even find face to face students and there is so much competition.

I love online learning. I have an interactive classroom and so many resources. I actually think more learning happens online.

Now I’m stuck, I want to carry on as I love doing it but without students I can’t. I tutored children and adults.

Can anyone recommend where I could find students for online learning? Or should I just give up now?

Posting duplicate threads makes it look like you are touting for business. Maybe contact MN to ask them to remove this thread?

Surely with the school holidays coming up tutoring wouldn't be continuing anyway?
Do you need the money or do you do it because you enjoy it?

Are you on social media?
I see tutors advertising individual and group lessons on Facebook on local pages.
Do you have parents of ex students who would be willing to post recommendations if you go down the Facebook route?

Many students won't bother this year as they won't be sitting 'proper' exams. Start advertising again in September.

What about the home ed community? If you educate yourself about the qualifications that are available to private candidates, it’s a growing market to tap into.

Been looking for a tutor for my DD and I've ruled out online automatically 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm not sure why.

My dd asked me to find her a tutor last year for one subject that she was struggling in. We looked at a few websites but they had all gone online because of covid. She had had enough of online learning and said that if she couldn't have a tutor who would come to the house, she didn't want one. Maybe that's a common reaction.

@fuckingsickofcovid I feel like more is covered in an online session and more learning is completed.
