Bus ramps and bluebells

Bus drivers are supposed to check the bus before leaving the depot including the door ramps and blue button to advise driver a wheelchair user is getting off next stop. It's not uncommon for the ramp to fail, or be deployed in front of street furniture or gutter making it inaccessible.
The button often doesn't work so I've learned to press both blue and red buttons so the driver will stop. If the pulls off before deploying the ramp I press red button repeatedly to stop the bus.
I've complained about this at the depot but nothing seems to change.

What is your AIBU? These features on the bus should work. Sometimes they don’t work. That is bad, and you should complain to both the bus company and the Traffic Commissioner. Of course, if you complain too much and there aren’t any spare buses to replace your bus, the bus will be cancelled and you’ll have to wait for the next one.

I went to the bus depot and spoke to the manager who assured me that the drivers all check their buses before leaving. I said that I have only once seen a driver test the ramp when taking over from another driver. I phoned the bus depot and gave his name, time at bus stop and bus number and they gave him a commendation. Sometimes rewarding good practice is better than complaining about the bad.
