I live in a medium sized city with my husband. We have moved to a new house last year and due to covid, we are still getting used to the area etc. We are on a fairly busy road, and our driveway is open (no fences on the road side) and up a slight hill. There is an area that is hidden from the road because we have hedges on that side. We have installed security cameras linked to our phones that look out the front and back. This evening our phone triggered with a man that had run around behind our car, and sat on a small wall within our driveway looking at his phone. It was directly behind the back of the car, a little hidden from view.
My husband was in the front room at that time, and shouted at the guy that he was trespassing and he should leave. The guy said he was just chatting on the phone but then left.
On reviewing the footage - of which we only have like 10 second of, you can see the man running out of the corner up into our driveway, behind our car, and sits on the wall. It looks deliberate that he's headed for this secluded bit behind the car and out of sight from the road (hidden by vegetation). You can't see his face. He's wearing a beanie hat (in summer!), and black non descript clothing. The whole situation is very strange.
The more I think about it, the more worried I am that someone is casing the house or maybe the car, but my fears may be running away from me! We've moved from a small cul de sac where neighbours look out for each other, but I don't get the same vibe here.
Is there any point in reporting this to the police - we can't see his face or know who he is at all? I'm not sure if i'm overacting but feel really uncomfortable and a little unsafe in my house right now!
