Don't get me wrong I have stuck with the rules in lockdown but I'm delighted that I didn't delete another app on my ancient phone to accommodate the rest and trace app.
My friend has just been told that he needs to self isolate for six days. On the day in question he went to a co-op with his brother who also has the app and that is it. His brother did not receive an alert and he did. He has also not been anywhere and needed to tag in well over a week.
This leaves the conclusion that it is pointless...He is isolated now but I don't see the point.

The stupid thing about the system is that a lot of people are just going to delete in the next few weeks to avoid being contacted, especially if they have holidays planned. Or if they get contacted just by message and not by name they'll just ignore it because it's not enforceable and they'll want to do stuff.

Exactly this, there is no legal requirement to isolate if the app tells you to.

Turn off the contact tracing and just use it to check in (or just give your phone no).

Don't have app. Don't want it. Its stupid.

I've never had it. My phone is far to old to have random apps.
Nowhere has asked me for my details so seems completely pointless.

Never installed it but I have a QR reader so I confidently zoom in on those and then fiddle with my phone as though I'm checking in. Am I? Not a bollock!

It's test and trace. Track and trace is Royal Mail I believe.
