It's one of a few I've seen this week where they target TikTok mums who talk about the realness of how they parent and I just wondered if anyone else think it's angering? I don't agree with everything these women say, but not everyone parents the same. This one basically admits she lets her kids on the iPads a lot, doesn't clean the clothes away and orders them pizza when she can't be bothered to cook. She works and so does her husband.

I asked my friend and she said this mum deserves to be shamed. I think this is awful. We all do things people don't agree with, sometimes because we want to and sometimes for an easy life. What are your thoughts?

This woman is actually pretty big. She has a Sh*t Mum's Club and sells merch for it.

You only have to be on MN five minutes to see that there's always someone who is judging/shaming the OP no matter WHAT the subject is.

Parenting, cleaning, budgets, spending habits, how their kids, DH, SIL, MIL behave to them.

It's the modern day version of the neighbours gathering to gossip about how Jan's front step hasn't been washed in 3 days, the lazy mare!

GolfEchoRomeoTangoIndia · 07/07/2021 17:13

So this is the way this woman earns her living? The Sun are giving her publicity which enables her to do that more profitably and you’re saying that they should stop?

I mean it wouldn’t be my choice of career but there are probably worse ones.

tallduckandhandsome · 07/07/2021 17:13

Where's the shaming? Sounds like crap journalism, makinga story out of Instas.

This woman is actually pretty big. She has a Sht Mum's Club and sells merch for it.*

You're this woman, fess up!

PurpleCloak · 07/07/2021 17:14

I don’t see where she is being shamed? They are just quoting everything she seems proud to admit on social media.. I’m sure she is actually happy with the publicity!

PropertyFlipper · 07/07/2021 17:16

She is so vulgar and low rent. Her house is an absolute tip. I don’t know why she’s so proud of herself.

x2boys · 07/07/2021 17:27

Maybe if she spent less time on Tik Tok, people would, nt call her a crap mum🤔
My house is far from perfect and my kids sometimes have chicken nuggets etc but I don't post it on line for all to see.

GoldieLow · 07/07/2021 17:28

@tallduckandhandsome

She was (and might still be) and a TikTok live when I posted this... She definitely didn't have her phone handy.
I thought it was relevant to post she has a club and merch because it's part of her being very proud of being a "sh*t mum" and she helps other women feel better about being labelled a rubbish mum because of certain things.

@PurpleCloak

It's not just her, this was just the latest article and I follow her so I took more notice. But they've done this a lot this week with the shaming. I mean the headline alone is pretty terrible. And on other platforms people are saying she needs reporting for admitting to having a messy house. It's definitely causing a lot of mum shaming even if we can't agree it's directly doing it.

I actually think she's great. I totally get what she's saying, I'm sick of seeing perfect bloody Instagram hashtagmakingbloodymemories. Wouldn't call her shitmum though. I'd call her honestmum.
And what's more she says she bathes her life sometimes twice a day. I'm lucky if I do mine twice a week. We all have different priorities

GoldieLow · 07/07/2021 17:33

@clarepetal

Exactly my point. She works, has 2 kids and her husband works too. Like most of us she's not perfect but she's admitting to it. It's nice after having an awful day and feeling like a bad mum to see someone else be honest about it and not care. I love that.
So many mum's do these things but just don't admit it. It's nice we're getting able to say these things and feel like other people can relate.

How do you bathe your life?

Moonface123 · 07/07/2021 17:42

It depends, some people get sucked in with the fake, false , unrealistic images that the likes of Stacey Solomon, Mrs Hinch, etc love to flaunt, does that make for a happier parent, or children ?
Most parents are just doing their best, l don't get involved with what others are doing, best just to focus on yourself.

PattyPan · 07/07/2021 17:42

Yabu for expecting anything else from the Sun!

Wtf? Why would this idiot make other people feel better about being shit?? Confused.

GoldieLow · 07/07/2021 17:49

@PattyPan

Excellent point Confused I should remember what kind of paper that is.

OP posts:
GoldieLow · 07/07/2021 17:51

@GreyhoundG1rl

It's not necessarily about being a sht mum but being labelled one by judgemental people. She doesn't think she's a sht mum, she just gets called one a lot because she does things other people deem bad. She refers to "Pinterest mum's" a lot as being the judgemental ones. Definitely don't agree since I spend 80% of my life finding stuff to do from Pinterest for my LO Grin But I get what she says.

OP posts:
GoldieLow · 07/07/2021 17:54

@x2boys

She doesn't really care what people think of her. I'm more worried for people who see this kind of story and think they're bad mum's for doing the same thing. Especially with people sharing it saying this mum's awful when a lot of mums do the same stuff as her.

The headline is also just quoting her, unless I’m missing something. You can’t call yourself a “shit mum”, whilst stating everything that makes you a “shit mum” and then get upset when someone quotes you as being a “shit mum” Hmm

SmallPrawnEnergy · 07/07/2021 17:58

It’s The Sun. They don’t know how to do actual real journalism and they’re dying on their arse so need to produce these frothy click bait articles to hang onto the gammon reading it.

Wtf? Why would this idiot make other people feel better about being shit??
If you can’t see the benefit of relating to other mums going through a similar situation/s then what the bloody hell do you think MN is for? Hmm

Kanaloa · 07/07/2021 18:24

To be honest though, she is just as fake as all the Instagram mums, she’s just pushing a different image, the oh so relatable just like you tired mummy. I think people need to realise that everyone on social media is fake to an extent and is creating an image to fit a niche so they can build a following. It isn’t real life.
