To think 16 & 17 year olds should be offered the vaccine

They're old enough to choose. They've had to make a lot of sacrifices - schooling, exams, social life. They could do with the certainty of the vaccine before starting A levels or lower 6th.

Yes, it should be offered to 12-16 year olds too as it’s been approved for this age group .

I feel very uneasy to be vaccinating children when there are so many countries with unvaccinated adult populations. It feels like a luxury and I think less well off countries should be supported first.

They should have it if they want it, regardless of age. But it has to be 100% their own decision.

I think some European countries and maybe the US are already offering it to 12 plus?

16 and 17 yr olds wouldn't be that many and they are old enough to consent easily so I'd think it wouldn't be too controversial.

I do agree that we should be doing all we can to help less well off countries though. But it's the fact that we're opening up everything worries me, if one of this age group gets long covid it could really affect their A levels and that seems wrong.

Our DS is yr 13 and off to university in september. He’s 17. Not 18 until end of july.
We can't book his jab vaccination yet. It’s worrying that he’ll be off to university only having had 1 vaccination.

I hope he'll be able to go to a walk in after his birthday for the first one at least. There must be quite a few in this position it would make sense to move on to 17 year olds as soon as possible.
