Am I being really unreasonable to enjoy dirty fried chicken from the chicken shop every once in a while. It tastes so good..

Toottooot · 06/07/2021 20:03

Why would it be unreasonable to enjoy eating something you like?

Chickentonightlove · 06/07/2021 20:04

Because its not very good for you...

What an earth is it?

RainCloudz · 06/07/2021 20:07

I love fried chicken. So greasy and unhealthy though.

CosyAcorn · 06/07/2021 20:12

Oh yes! I love it too! The shop round the corner is dangerously cheap for how much food they give you. DH hates it so on the rare occasion that he is out I order myself the full works. For some reason every order they give me comes with about six little tubs of spicy mayo and it's the best thing ever!

Chickentonightlove · 06/07/2021 20:12

It's so delicious at the time but afterwards I feel like a fat mess. 😂

It's the crunchy chicken skin that I adore. Could eat a bucket of it.

Every once in a while is obviously fine.

GaspGulpScream · 06/07/2021 20:16

The last fried chicken I had was literally gripping in grease when I picked it up. I will forever mourn it as I gag now when I think of it
I'm slightly jealous

TheChosenTwo · 06/07/2021 20:17

I would only eat the crispy skin if I had to eat it, it’s delicious 😋
I haven’t eaten it for years but the skin was always the best bit! It’s fine as long as you’re not eating it to the extreme on a regular basis (the same as any food!).

JorisBonson · 06/07/2021 20:17

Yes. I'm lucky enough to live in South London and can visit Morley's on the way home from the pub 🤤

Wilkolampshade · 06/07/2021 20:20

DD2 woke up after a big night out to find some (cold) fried chicken rolling around in the bed with her. She had it for breakfast.

Why do people describe food as 'dirty' .... equally as bad as saying 'a cheeky glass of wine' Hmm? You are almost setting yourself up as a martyr who eats sea bass and kale most of the time but really prefers to eat tasty food.

Mildmanneredmum · 06/07/2021 20:38

My local fried chicken shop has one of those council cleanliness inspection ratings proudly posted on the door - absolutely no stars at all. Not one. Their fried chicken is clearly delicious, though.

Chickentonightlove · 06/07/2021 20:40

@mildmanneredmum 😂😂😂😂

I love it. I debone it and have it in a sandwich (thick soft white bread and loads of butter and ketchup). Delicious.

Okbye · 06/07/2021 20:43

I LOVE fried chicken, definitely one of my most favourite foods. I wish I could eat it every day and not get fat 😄 alas, I’m not that lucky!

Deffo not being unreasonable, tuck in! 😁👍

Chickentonightlove · 06/07/2021 20:43

I have it as a treat about once a month. 2 piece meal, chips and a fat coke.. Drool

NavigationCentral · 06/07/2021 20:45

I don’t understand these posts. People enjoying a favourite takeaway apparently once a month. What’s “dirty” about it? What’s AIBU about it? Just what is it all about?! We surely eat what we fancy when we fancy?

Champagneforeveryone · 06/07/2021 20:46

My fussy family don't do chicken "with bones" so I get the chicken pieces from the box meal on the rare occasions they can be persuaded to partake

They both labour under the delusion that the "chicken with bones" is an integral part of the meal, apparently clueless that I order it specifically for greedy little me Grin

This is amazing; it’s not something you can make instantly as you ideally need to marinate the chicken overnight but it’s really tasty and doesn’t
Leave you feeling guilty. We have it with Bisto
Southern fried chicken gravy 🥰

PatchyTwat · 06/07/2021 20:50

As a good friends husband once said to her “Junk food is like visiting a hooker, great idea at the time but you always feel a bit dirty afterwards”

So that’s why it’s called dirty.

And yes I did ask her exactly how he knew…

rubydoobydoo · 06/07/2021 20:54

It's definitely dirty from our local chicken place - sometimes we suspect they might actually be using pigeons that hang around the town centre instead of chicken - but in that crispy coating and dripping in grease it is sooooooo good!

Chickentonightlove · 06/07/2021 20:58

I always get a 2 piece meal, chips and a fat coke. Just so delicious.
