Dropped my mensural cup in a public toilet

So I just dropped my cup in a public toilet ☹️ I had nothing else with me and I’m on my heaviest day! So I had to rinse it off with water and soap from the dispenser and put it back in. I feel so disgusting. I’m on a long car journey, so not an option to go home and haven’t got any other form of sanitary product with me.
Am I going to get an infection or worse?! 😩😢

@TerribleCustomerCervix

Not to be crude, but penises go up there and they aren’t exactly sterile….
This!!

You'll be fine OP!

TinySaltLick · 06/07/2021 18:36

They are made of a medical grade silicone which is easy to clean and not porous

With the soapy water and a scrub I am sure it would be pretty much good as new

And fingers of men who you’ve met in Revolution in Clapham on a night out, enjoyed several tequilas with and got cheesy chips on the way home

To echo others, why not a wad of toilet paper till you find a shop??? Surely if you are driving, there would be a petrol station, town or motorway services nearby???Confused

MyDcAreMarvel · 06/07/2021 18:39

I would have just stayed in the toilet and asked women if they had a spare pad or tampon.

But hopefully not poo particles all over it!

Have you read some of the terrifyingly frequent threads over on Relationships when the OP’s DP won’t wash or shower for weeks on end?

A few poo particles are probably the least of their worries!

Concestor · 06/07/2021 18:45

@FlaminEckVera

Well, I wouldn't have used the soap! Shock

Just warm water would have done.

I doubt you will get a bad infection though. But perhaps avoid using public toilet soap (in future,) for something you put in your vaj!

I always wash my cup with soap. As long as it's rinsed what's the problem?
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/07/2021 18:45

@TerribleCustomerCervix very true Envy not envy!

INeedNewShoes · 06/07/2021 19:03

@ShirleyPhallus

Funniest thing I've read all day Grin

Only went there once but I'm glad to report that I went home alone skipping the cheesy chips and the grubby fingers Halo

Pandaeyes1989 · 06/07/2021 19:32

My periods are so heavy that toilet paper wouldn’t have been sufficient!

@WorraLiberty

Surely you could've used a huge wad of loo roll and get to the nearest shop?

Infection is a possibility, yes.

^^ This

I have PCOS and wildly irregular period and have lived my life ustilising the wad of toilet paper technique. I have no idea why other women dont but people act like im insane when it pops up - its a perfectly acceptible caught short technique and it works fine.

moynomore · 06/07/2021 19:44

Of course OP should have used soap!!! I mean, I know we're not meant to scribe the insides of our vaginas with soap, but these were extenuating circumstances.

moynomore · 06/07/2021 19:45

@ShirleyPhallus dying.

Works fine for you maybe. I would have soaked through a wad of bog roll the thickness of the sodding bible within 10 mins on a heavy day. You must understand everyone is different and what works for yuo won't for others?

Sleepingdogs12 · 06/07/2021 19:52

Well you did what you could, but I would've thought with really heavy periods it is always best to have back up supplies and probably best to anyway (but it took me many years to work this out) . You live and learn. If you get an infection(unlikely) then you will get it sorted. Thought moon cup people carried water in their bags for a quick rinse in the cubicle too. I am so glad all this is behind me!

WellThisIsShit · 06/07/2021 19:53

Oh you poor thing!

I think you’ll be ok, but I’m sure you’ll feel better when you’ve arrived and been able to sterilize the moon cup properly.

Do they not sell sanpro in those little vending machines in most public toilets? As disgusting as it is, I’m fairly sure you’ll survive to tell the tale.
