It's lashing it down here, again. Been on and off all day. I'm in SE England, maybe I'm just getting older and more obsessed with the weather, but it seems to rain most days. There was a 2-3 heatwave last month and then more rain.

I’m also SE and so far this summer it’s been dreadful ,I usually work on the theory that the best weather is before the schools break up for summer ( may / June ) so I’m not holding my breath . I’ve had to close the windows today as the wind is blowing the rain in and making my fly screens wet .

Backhills · 06/07/2021 17:27

We were spoiled rotten last year. This is much more typical IMO.

Pinotwoman82 · 06/07/2021 17:28

I’m in SE and the last few years we have been very lucky with the weather, this has been the worst by far

Emmylou1985 · 06/07/2021 18:06

I'm NW... It always rains 🙄 Which I should have considered when I went mad for Summer clothing in the Next sale.

areoplanecakerake · 06/07/2021 18:14

Well I don't have to water the garden so that's something I suppose ☔️

Team ‘snug’ and ‘cozy’ will be along on a minute to talk about how much they love it like this and can’t wait for it to be colder so they can sit in front of a fire being all ‘snug’ and ,cozy’.

Brokenrecord3006 · 06/07/2021 18:23

I think we've had about 3 weeks of actual nice, summer weather this year. That's it. I'm still carrying my winter coat around with me.

cardibach · 06/07/2021 18:26

Winter coat, @Brokenrecord3006 ? Where ar3 you? While I agree it’s horribly rainy it really isn’t cold where i am (South Wales). Haven’t even worn a cardigan for months.

pigsDOfly · 06/07/2021 18:28

I'm also SE and you're absolutely right it's been bloody awful.

We're in July and I'm still having to wear wellies to walk the dog and the fields are running with water - where I live is particularly watery.

The annoying thing is that when it isn't raining it's boiling hot and often humid.

The dog can't be walked in the heat and the rain and humidity makes my hair go frizzy.

Not really enjoying 'summer' so far this year.

pigsDOfly · 06/07/2021 18:30

cardibach There was a chilly wind that made me do up my raincoat when I walked the dog this afternoon.

Finallybroody · 06/07/2021 18:31

Last year it was so hot and I had barely any loose summer dressers so I bought quite a few over winter sales etc and have worn a grand total of one so far this summer Hmm

FedNlanders · 06/07/2021 18:32

Does not feel much different to other years. To me.

I'm not snug or cozy but I am heavily pregnant so for once glad we're not in the middle of a heatwave 😆 #sorrynotsorry (any other year I'd be as annoyed as everyone else though)

I'm part of team snug and cosy for winter - not in July and not for months and months on end 😭

On the plus side, the local farm (SE greater london) has had two bad hay years in a row- this year should be much better. It's a big expense to buy in, and usually they also make some money selling excess to locals, so there are upsides.

SorrySoldOut · 06/07/2021 18:58

mother nature hates us all and the shit weather is payback for surviving covid designed to wipe majority of us all out. After all we are destroying her planet so wants to destroy us!

no summer is the ultimate kick in the teeth..

bigbluebus · 06/07/2021 19:02

We were away on a canal boat holiday last week and apart from Monday, when it rained all afternoon and evening, we wore shorts and t-shirts, applied sun screen and enjoyed meals sitting in pub beer gardens in the sunshine as well as a bbq on the tow path. Definitely seemed like Summer to me. Glad we're not away this week though!

ikeepseeingit · 06/07/2021 19:03

I think it’s just such a stark contrast from last years amazing sunny 3 months. It’s rainier than last year for sure but I’m withholding weather judgement until the end of august. Crossing my fingers for a few more weeks of sunshine! I think we could all do with it after a year inside.

warmfluffytowels · 06/07/2021 19:05

Last year was abnormal in terms of how many weeks we went without rain, imo.

But saying that, I'm in the NW and it's only in the past 2-3 days that we've had much rain - otherwise it's been mostly dry for the past month or two.

gigi556 · 06/07/2021 19:12

The weather this year has been shit. You are not mistaken

rantymcrantface66 · 06/07/2021 19:26

I'm in Scotland we get some nice dry, warm summers but tbh this is more typical sadly. We are meant to be camping next week. Hope the ground isn't too saturated to hold a tent peg. Last year was exceptional!

It won't be good if it doesn't stop raining long enough to cut and dry it
Marmite27 · 06/07/2021 19:28

July ‘04 or ‘05 (I think) was like this. Which ever year that bloody Rihanna song ‘umberella’ was at number one for what felt like decades

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 06/07/2021 19:29

I’m SE on the coast and we usually have something of a microclimate, but this year, it’s fecking freezing. I’ve had to put a winter jumper on today.

whatthejiggeries · 06/07/2021 19:30

It's shit. We have a pool. For the last two years we were in it practically all summer. This year I have spent one weekend by the pool and that seems an age ago so it is definitely worse than the last two years. That said I do remember thinking the last two years were particularly good so perhaps this is more normal and we've forgotten!
