Gatso speed/ light camera flashed me but I was stationary way behind stop line (and had been going 5-10mph in approach)

Hi

I’ve never been flashed by a camera before so a bit concerned. It flashed in Glasgow gorbals, it’s at a junction but had been flashing constantly for 5 minutes as I could see it in the approach. I was going 5-10mph and stopped way behind the solid stop line.

Do they flash randomly ? Or are me and the five other cars all going to have to appeal 3 points and £100 fine

Thanks

I went past one like that. Kept flashing randomly every couple of seconds.

I went through and never heard anything, so I assume the police double check the pics before sending the letter to confirm who was driving.

If it was flashing continuously it sounds like it may have been faulty.

I got flashed by a camera on the motorway a few weeks ago, I was quite indignant as I was only doing 70 on my speedo (which is a couple of MPH faster than my actual speed) but it must've been a faulty one as no fine subsequently arrived in the post!

There was one down our road years ago that malfunctioned and flashed anything that went past it at any speed, it flashed a cyclist and he fell off his bike in surprise. Probably a ‘had to be there’ moment but it was absolutely perfect comic timing (he wasn’t hurt).

I don’t imagine you’ll be contacted, they’ll realise it’s a fault..

Sounds faulty.
