To think this is a waste of public money

The BBC have spent time and money updating their logo. These are the results. AIBU to think this is ridiculous and a complete waste?

I mean, didn’t anyone say “we’re going to look ridiculous if we go ahead with this?”

The BBC lost their way YEARS ago. Their attempt at "balanced journalism" is nothing short of outrageous. I actually read their news from time to time simply for comedy value.

I refuse to fund them (I am actually exempt as per their guidelines) and wish others would follow!

The BBC is a waste of space, but apparently it is their own font so they don't need to pay licensing costs for Gill Sans.

It's simple - either you think they are rubbish so don't watch or listen to any BBC programmes, or you do watch their stuff and pay accordingly.

If you are exempt from paying but still watch the news, you are not making some kind of anti BBC stand. You are just doing what you are entitled to do - watch thebbc for free.

YABU. I'm not a marketeer (thank God) but I work with marketing and brand teams and brands have to regularly update their brand, even if it looks like a subtle change to you and me.

A quick Google also reveals:

And as many have pointed out Twitter, using its own font means the BBC no longer needs to pay licensing costs for Gill Sans, the typeface used in the original logo. Which means the whole thing could actually end up being a cost saving exercise. Who knew?

I was referring to the news articles on their website - not the TV news. I don't watch anything on BBC channels.
