To think matched betting is a total waste of time!!

Matched betting mums please, I want you to say I'm wrong. I'm a fully paid up member of profit maximiser but I'm thinking of knocking it on the head. I had hopes of making £3/400 a month but, I have so little time and I got frightened off casinos so have since been concentrating on the euros and have earned teeny amounts 😭.

Is it as rubbish as I think it is or do I just need to be braver about casinos as I'm so time poor...

Can't speak about signing up to a matched betting site, but I've got a rough idea of the principles behind it and apply that to my own gambling. My conclusion is that you can't sustain an income of hundreds per month for very long until you run out of free bets and similar offers that drive the profitability. I assume the subscription services offer more than I can work out for myself, but I'm not convinced it would justify the fee so I'm not getting involved.

Hopefully someone else can give a more detailed answer about what the paid-for services offer.

My own systems are working, up to a point, and have delivered some nice profits - but it's a bonus now and then rather than a regular top-up income. Suits me, but I don't have to make a special effort to get online and place the bets and I'm usually staking on events that I'd be following anyway, so it's not really a time issue. But if I wasn't watching the Euros, or twiddling my thumbs outside DD's ballet class when the J-League has its games, I wouldn't be bothering.

Can't speak about the casinos at all - never looked into that and have no strategy in place for them.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 03/07/2021 23:33

I started with £40 and now have £1000 but I don't have time just now
I haven't run out of free offers or gone near casino. I reckon you can make £2000 then you have to be more clever and do extra places/ 2 ups or move to casino

HilaryBriss · 03/07/2021 23:57

I made about 6/7K in about 18mths before moving on to casino. I eventually got gubbed by most bookies so don't do it anymore.

bennyjet · 04/07/2021 00:07

I do a lot of first goal scorer, 2ups and casino, still going after 4 years and started with 10, made around 90k. The offers aren't there like they used to be but there are enough to make a decent amount each month. Last month was around 2.5k with the euros and casino

TrickorTreacle · 04/07/2021 01:13

I know someone who made a few K over a 5 year period. The betting sites eventually caught up with him and he got banned from all of them. That was around 2018.

He now does sports bets where hie picks 4 different criteria that he predict that will happen during a match e.g. how many goals are scored or which player scores a goal etc. The bet only wins if all 4 criteria are met. Sounds a bit complicated and far-fetched but he does win sometimes, so I guess it's having some foreknowledge about the sport.

safariboot · 04/07/2021 02:43

I never did it big time but it's really dwindled for me now, I think I made all of about 25 quid in June. Partly that's just because I lost interest but the good offers are harder to come by now. The bookies are wising up and doing stuff that's much harder to guarantee profit from.

The shovel salesmen will always overstate how much gold is in them hills.

safariboot · 04/07/2021 02:46

If you're time poor, you're not going to get much more than coffee money I think. Matched Betting isn't a get-rich-quick scheme.

I’m making £300 ish a month, really enjoying it. It’s just like a hobby for me, spend less than an hour a day doing it

Nomorescreentime · 04/07/2021 07:34

I made about £3000, I was spending about an hour a day on it. I never signed up to any of the sites fully though, I'd use their special offer periods to subscribe and then the rest of the time I'd do it myself. It meant I saved money on subscriptions and never got gubbed as I was using slightly less valuable odds matches to place the bets.

nosyupnorth · 04/07/2021 08:16

I made a few hundred when I first started, but then it trailed off as deals are hard to find after the initial sign-up offers or require using increasingly dodgy websites. It's not a long term earner for most people.

CaveMum · 04/07/2021 08:24

I’ve recently given up MB. I started in Jan 2018 and made £22k in total. At the start I was making £500/£600 a month pretty regularly but then after about a year it began to dwindle. It has definitely got a lot harder, there are far fewer offers around these days and those that are around are not as good as they used to be.

There is money to be made in casino but you need to be able to handle the variance - earlier this year I had 2 months where I was actually down about £70 which was the catalyst for stopping.

skippy67 · 04/07/2021 09:47

I made about £900 in 4 months, having started with £25. That's before moving onto casino. I don't do it anymore because I found it too time consuming. I might go back to it again though because we need to update our bathroom. Student dd does it too to boost her income while she's at uni.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 04/07/2021 09:52

YANBU, very hard to make money from it now.
I was spending an hour a day for £10-40 a day when it worked well. Not worth it IMO.
If you’ve got loads of time and no other option for earning an income it’s still an option I guess.

ShanghaiDiva · 04/07/2021 09:58

I treat it as a hobby and am not interested in monthly subscriptions or casinos. I have been grubbed by a few bookies and now just bet on football with three or four bookies. I spend about 10 mins a day on it and have not made masses of money (£1100 in 6 months) but don’t want to dedicate lots more time to it.

Reported the scammer

Bloballbovish · 13/02/2022 18:14

I don't touch casinos, but for about 4 years I made £2.5-3k a year. The offers aren't as good now, I make about £150 a month during footie season. I don't do the time consuming things like extra places or 2up, because I don't have the time to spare. Accas used to be lucrative but again, so much less so now.

I try to hit the weekly clubs at Sky and Paddy and Unibet, then the quick in plays by Betfred. That'll net me £30 a week usually. The loss of the 365 £50 free bet has made a dint.

Honestly, I don't see how it's possible to hit £1k a month unless multi accounting.

Foreverlexicon · 13/02/2022 18:20

I made about 2.5k over a few months last year.
Sadly gubbed and stake restricted pretty much everywhere now.

Darbs76 · 13/02/2022 18:22

I made over £1000 when I did it and didn’t spend a lot of time on it. I lost interest though, still have the money sitting in the accounts, need to make a decision

I made £1000 fairly easily but it’s not a monthly income imo
