How often do you clean your fridge?

Just done mine. Had it all out, cleaned it and put it all back. I am pretty good at not having mouldy or out of date stuff in there, but I clean is maybe 2x a year?

My DM does hers EVERY time she goes shopping and refills the fridge. I am exhausted at the thought of doing that.

I check through food quite a few times a week and try keep it really tidy. I try and give it a quick wipe every week too. I give it a deep clean ie taking all the shelves out to clean in the sink and cleaning the fittings and runners etc a couple times a year!

Once a week.

Despite otherwise being a slattern of the highest order, I clean the fridge weekly. Big shop comes on Saturday morning, fridge gets cleaned while I watch TV on the laptop on Friday evening. My family are mucky/clumsy/DGAF, so there are always milk droplets and juice rings and crumbs.

I was woefully negligent in this task, so I recently decided to do a shelf per week and the door and boxes another week. Sticking to it so far. Equivalent of monthly. Disgusting to some but a vast improvement to mine. We keep lots in the fridge that don't actually need to go in - that makes it seem a greater chore.

Oh wow to the person who hoovers the dust out the back. I didn't even know that was a thing!

My mum does the whole taking the shelf out and scrubbing top to bottom before putting in shopping. I have witnessed and been told off for putting in shopping without doing it!

Obvs I wipe spillages as I go and give the salad draw a quick rinse every now and then, when needed.

Twice a month...

Probably twice a year and that's even a stretch. Basically when I feel like it's needed (ie - proper manky lol).

I wipe it out before the food delivery arrives so weekly I suppose. I take the shelves and trays out and give it a though clean probably every four to six weeks when the fridge is practically empty.

Every two weeks when the shopping arrives. It really doesn't take long, and it's surprising what a difference it makes.

Once a fortnight before each shop.

When it gets too full/something spills/it starts looking/smelling unclean.

Every second weekend before my big shop. I’d rather keep on top of it and the salad drawers need it most of the time anyway.

When the new food turns its nose up at it.

Couple times a week now I live with DH and DD but not that often when I lived alone cause I didn't really keep much food in it.

I do the veg drawers every week before I put the shopping away because that's the one place things go unwrapped. The rest of the fridge more like once or twice a year or if something spills or doesn't smell right.

Actually I did clean mine last month as had to defrost because there is an ice berg growing in the back of mine. Something is wrong with it. Earlier this evening I intended making something with potatoes I had in the salad drawer ( Yes I know , but there is nowhere else to store veg) only to find the whole 2 kilo bag had gone bad. So have had to throw them out and clean again. Had frozen fish and oven chips instead.

I did it weekly for about a year but it took me over an hour each time and was exhausting! Embarrassingly it's now not been done for about six months- going to do it next week!

Major clean about three times a year
Wipe round once a week when I am sorting the shopping.

I'll clean up a spill. But otherwise only when it needs done.

I do it every week, just before refilling with shopping. I worry about what’s lurking if I don’t!

I pick a tray/shelf when I want to put the dishwasher on and it’s half empty. I clean the surrounding area while the tray it in.
I never clean the entire fridge at once.

Once a week.

I do it in stages. A deep total clean 3 times a year but every other week a drawer or a shelf gets a hot soapy wash

I'm so bad for this. I tend to start thinking 'this really needs cleaning' 3 months after the last clean, then put it off for another 3 😂 so it's lucky if it gets two cleans a year. They're good cleans when they happen, though!

Once a week a wipe down. Once a month everything out. Have a small fridge though, need to keep it tidy.
