To think flushable wipes need to be renamed

They are not flushable

It even says on the back of the packet that they can be harmful to marine life.

So why are flushable wipes still being sold as flushable?

Not only are they damaging to the environment, it can block your pipes up and help create the fatbergs in the drains.

Please don’t flush them. Only things you should flush is
Pee
Poo
(Toilet) Paper

I agree, I'm surprised that regulators haven't stopped it for 'false advertising' reasons...

Soubriquet · 03/07/2021 14:25

I didn’t think of the false advertising angle

That’s a good point too

If they have the Fine to Flush marker then those ones have been deemed OK to flush. My toilets don't like them so we have lidded bins to put them in instead. Although I have a gel that you put on toilet paper and use that as a homemade wipe

Wipes of all sorts ie 'flushable' or 'one use and land fill 'have had their day and it should become socially unacceptable to use them. We are so much more aware now of our impact on the planet and those of us who are parents have the next generations existence to consider.

Flywheel · 03/07/2021 14:31

What is the gel demented?

Most flushable wipes are still not flushable.

The people may be making a way to do it, but for now, most aren’t

It might look pricy but it last ages. Think sainsbury's sells a spray that does the same thing but makes the toilet paper more wet

Think this is what sainsbury's sells

Flywheel · 03/07/2021 15:00

Thanks. Didn't know such a product existed.
