Just thought I'd pop Bridget Jones's Baby on, and oh look its Ed Sheeran again, playing himself and no one knows who he is...

It might just be me, but why?!?!

I don't think I have ever been 'OMG I absolutely love this song' about an Ed Sheeran track? Like, all his stuff is very 'meh', not unpleasant, some of it quite catchy, but I have never actually really loved any of it.

FionnulaTheCooler · 02/07/2021 18:57

The PP who said his 15 minutes of fame will be over soon made me laugh, he's one of the biggest artists in the world! He's not going anywhere anytime soon thankfully

Never said it will be over soon, I said it won't last forever, which odds are it won't, fame can be a fickle mistress.

bonfireheart · 02/07/2021 19:25

Well of course it won't last forever, nothing lasts forever.

MaMelon · 02/07/2021 19:38

Ed Sheeran will - his atrocious acting is now available for generations to come to witness for all eternity.

ReadySalt · 02/07/2021 19:42

I heard him being interviewed on the radio about these appearances (not through choice, it was on at work). He basically said that he always says yes to acting jobs because it is a great thing to do but he knows he can’t act! Bizarre.

Fairyliz · 02/07/2021 19:46

@MaMelon

And such a stupid ending, oh give up your international stardom and all the money that comes with it, because I'm too emotionally insecure

Yeah, but c’mon - he’s gorgeous! I can forgive Himesh Patel on this occasion (not marrying LJ though - I can’t forgive that).

What was the John Lennon thing though? I didn’t understand that but at the end Confused

@MaMelon I understood the end to be that if the Beatles group hadn’t existed then John Lennon wouldn’t have been killed, so lived to be an old man. The old John Lennon said something about having a happy marriage so is that worth more than fame and fortune? I could be completely wrong of course Grin
WorriedWishingWell · 02/07/2021 20:17

That was how I understood it too FairyLiz.
I thought ES was OK in the film, he was sending himself up.

Ahh - that makes complete sense now! Thank you Smile

xyzandabc · 02/07/2021 20:22

I've only seen him in yesterday. Really liked the film but ES was awful, just very awkward and out of place.

Kanaloa · 02/07/2021 20:39

I quite like his music. The only film I’ve seen him in was Yesterday which I just wasn’t keen on. The only way I can describe it was extremely forgettable.

Maggiesfarm · 02/07/2021 20:42

I really liked it, it is meant to be fairly lighthearted, by which I mean not to be taken seriously and I loved the ending!

My daughter put it on for me, she said I was too serious - it's true I tend towards more serious films and reading - and I am glad she did.

Tonkerbea · 02/07/2021 20:44

I like Ed Sheeran! He has an endearing way about him and doesn't seem to take himself too seriously

Itstoofuckingwarm · 02/07/2021 20:45

Bloody love Ed Sheeran leave him alone you meanie!

You’re just jealous cos he ‘grossed half a billion on the divide tour’ Wink

I'm not sure what about it you didn't get, so this may not help. Wasn't it that John Lennon, and presumably all the other Beatles, still existed in the new reality, but weren't the Beatles. That they potentially had a good life despite not being a world famous band and that nothing had been stolen from them. It's been a while so I may have forgotten something.
MaMelon · 02/07/2021 21:23

Yes I think that’s it knittingaddict - FairyLiz explained it to me in a similar way, thanks to you both, I was just not getting it! Smile

erm nope

I find his music at best inoffensive, and at worst bloody irritating.

I just dont think he should try acting as he is no good at it
