Jersey Royal new potatoes

Is anyone else nostalgic for the taste of these from their youth?

If we had 'salad' it always came with a bowl of these lovelies, carefully prepped to just scrape away the loosest papery skin, boiled and smothered in butter 😍

I bought some earlier, the most expensive in the shop and I'm a bit sad at how meh they tasted - ok, but nothing like the ones I used to eat as a child.

Does anyone know where to buy good ones, or am I just reminiscing with rose-tinted glasses on?

We had some new spuds from Devon and Cornwall. Both much tastier than jersey royals these days. It’s a real shame.

I dug up my crop of first earlies at the weekend....amazing taste and easy to grow in containers.
A huge % of supermarket fruit and veg comes from overseas, it's no surprise that it has no taste by the time we buy it.

They are another victim of mass production and supermarket selling

I'm lucky enough to be able to grow my own fruit and veg so I know how different it tastes when it's not been grown quickly and on a large scale.

I think it's an absolute disgrace what we have done to food through mass production.

What's wrong with eating seasonally?

I live opposite a potato farm but for some reason the ones grown in my own little garden are much nicer. I think the intensive nature of cultivating the farmed ones kills the flavour.
