To ask for your recommendations of wine to gift

I’ve had an extremely supportive employer who has really helped me out through a rough patch and would quite like to buy a token bottle of red as a thank you… I’m happy to spend up to about £20 on said bottle, but have no idea where to start, so what would you gift?

I know someone that's into wine. I'd go to an independent local place and either get a voucher or just talk to them. Tell them what type of wine this person normally drinks and what with (eg cheese or steak or just on its own) and they can suggest something. Often I find they suggest something from a place you'd not normally associate with wine

Absolutely agree with pp - go to an independent wine shop, tell them your budget, say you're after something unusual and they'll sort you right out. Pop in a note saying 'apparently this will go beautifully with a steak/is perfect for a cold winter's night/serve cool for a summer evening' so they know you've not just grabbed it at Tesco!

£20 is loads for wine so just go to M&S and buy a £20 bottle, you can't lose
