First visit to my families favourite tea room post lockdown, to find that they have changed their menu, and they no longer do the best sausage baguette ever. I crave this particular baguette when I haven't been for a while.
To add further insult to injury, their menu has gone all posh, quinoa and alfalfa rubbish.

There is nothing worse than this when you have craved something and it's gone ☹️my one is marks and spencer pre COVID used to make the most amazing scrambled egg on toast in their cafe which has now stopped I totally feel you pain OP

afaloren · 30/06/2021 13:27

UGH NO I hate things like this. Sorry for your loss OP. I still the mourn the perfect chicken sandwich I used to be able to get from the local bakery #RIP

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/06/2021 13:32

I feel your pain @Toddlerteaplease. My favourite sandwich shop has not re-opened. No more chicken caesar supreme sandwiches for me or anyone else.

We are diminished.SadSadSad

I went for breakfast at my favourite place this morning after waiting forever and everything has change and gone all posh I was very disappointed have been looking forward to this breakfast for months need to find a new favourite place 🙂

AdaThorne · 30/06/2021 13:54

I feel like I have found my people! My favourite cafe has bumped prices up 25% and removed my favourite French toast. Covid I have coped with everything else you have thrown at me, from illness to homeschool to not seeing my family for months. But this? This is a step too far.

NoviceGardenLady · 30/06/2021 14:00

My local takeaway used to do the most amazing chicken kebabs. The chicken was beautifully flavoured with garlic and cooked to perfection.

Last year they stopped doing them with no explanation.

We waited for them to come back on the menu. They didn't. They haven't.

We voted with our feet and now we order dirty takeaways from a different place.

Oh dear! I have been known to actually cry because of this. Being autistic and meat free, my palate can be a bit limited so it really isn't a question of "just try something different."

One of our favourite gastro pubs that we were looking forward to getting back to after lockdown has been put under new management and has gone from traditional pub grub and ale to swanky restaurant with plenty of quinoa, kale and avocado. We were fortunate enough to discover this prior to actually going there, thankfully. Luckily, we've found another pub with a similar menu to the first and we'll go there instead now.

kindaclassy · 30/06/2021 14:09

One of my favourite restaurants has changed the desert menu. They used to have a lovely selection, now changed to the usual lazy rubbish cheesecake/brownies/crumble.

I am so annoyed. I am not going back.

My local Chinese closed just before lockdown. I went there for over 30 years.
Feel bereft.

TabithaTiger · 30/06/2021 14:12

Oh I know this feeling! I used to love going to Costa for a coffee and almond croissant,I was gutted when they stopped doing them!

Also, Sainsbury's have stopped selling my favourite passion fruit yogurts 🙁

markmichelle · 30/06/2021 14:29

@TabithaTiger

Whaat! they stopped the Almond croissant.
I'm staying with the local independent now and Nero in big city.

DreamingofTimbuktu · 30/06/2021 14:41

M&S used to the most amazing steak and onion baguette. It was a very sad day when they stopped

Bronson2 · 30/06/2021 14:43

Paul's bakery stopped their two best baguettes - a brie and butter bagel and a roast beef one. They now offer some healthier options instead. Was gutted.

GenitaliaNotGender · 30/06/2021 14:45

There used to be a cafè near my place of work which sold amazing jacket potatoes - lovely crisp skin and a mountain of gorgeous grated cheese. Then they closed with no warning. I am still bitter today.

This was in 1997

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2021 15:18

My mum is bereft that McDonald's have stopped doing their beanie loyalty cards and have gone on to the app. Her last two beanies are stuck to her phone case in commemoration.

Ahh I feel your pain! When my favourite cafe reopened they had also changed the menu... and my go-to favourite thing was gone :-(

Tikka halloumi on chips - honestly, it was food of the gods, and now they've changed it to sweet chilli, which I don't like. I know that's a real first world problem, but I had been craving it all through the last lockdown and was devastated!

Shodan · 30/06/2021 15:58

Not in the same realm, but Nando's still haven't put the chicken livers back on the menu.

I suspect I was one of only a few who loved them so they won't come back I'm sure Sad

Obese · 30/06/2021 16:10

That's absolutely dreadful, OP :(

My favourite lunch time place has switched from perfect homemade chunky chips to... frozen fries Shock Shock

Highwind · 30/06/2021 16:22

Every time I find something I really love in a shop, they seem to stop doing it.

Asda had these awesome dark chocolate and ginger cookies, those big 4 pack style ones. They were incredible... literally incredible. Now gone!

Asda, if you are listening, please bring them back.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2021 16:45

And they used to do the most humongous scones. And they've also shrunk. Sad
