Wowcher- terrible customer service

I'm not familiar with Wowcher and bought an item from them. Or so I thought. The money went out and although I got a 'redeem' email you get that sort of thing all the time from other websites like, 'still in your basket' emails so thought it was a mistake or marketing.
Emailed them to say it was an honest mistake and their response was pretty much, "Yah boo sucks to you."
I mean really, is that it?
Their response was essentially you should have read the small print.
Anyone had similar and managed to get anything other than a rude email back from them?

Did you miss the date to redeem?

OffRampHilton · 28/06/2021 20:10

What did they actually say in their response that was rude?

Because being told “no” isn’t necessarily bad customer service.

TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:17

Yes I did miss the date. I wasn't aware you had to do it at all.

Maybe not rude then, surely it's a bit shoddy to keep money when you've not given the product?
It's fancy stealing.

You're told how to redeem your purchase and when by. It isn't fancy stealing at all.

TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:21

I've paid money and have nothing to show for it.
Nevermind I won't be using them again.

YABU

It’s not their fault you didn’t read their email telling you to redeem it!

OffRampHilton · 28/06/2021 20:24

Then you’re being massively unreasonable.

cupsofcoffee · 28/06/2021 20:25

YABVU.

It's not their fault you didn't read the small print and deleted the e-mail.

Like a PP said, it's not bad customer service to be told "no".

unfortunateevents · 28/06/2021 20:26

How long did you have to redeem the voucher? Probably months. It's really not Wowcher's fault that you failed to bother reading the instructions that came with the email. Also once you have bought the afternoon tea/gin tour/motor racing experience/whatever you bought from them, they passed the money on to the supplier so they're certainly not going to send the money back to you because they don't have it any more!

purpleme12 · 28/06/2021 20:27

I once bought a cat bed from there and when it came it was so much smaller and rubbish quantity compared to what it looked like online. So I don't trust Wowcher after that

TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:30

I had one month to redeem. I did not realise redeeming was a thing. I thought it was a duplicate as the money had already gone through.

OP posts:
TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:32

It was an actual product so I assumed they'd at least pass it on so I could buy full price.

OP posts:
Batsy · 28/06/2021 20:34

yabu, its your own fault for not reading/following instructions properly

Royalbloo · 28/06/2021 20:36

That's how Wowcher works?!

gamerchick · 28/06/2021 20:37

You didn't really get how it all worked then?

ilovesooty · 28/06/2021 20:37

Well if you just didn't bother reading the instructions it's not their fault. It's in the small print before you choose to purchase as well.

TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:38

Yeah I realise that. Will just have to suck it up. I wasn't familiar with the process and am used to getting similar looking marketing emails from other companies. I just thought they might at least put you in touch so you could pay full price. I just won't use it again. Expensive mistake.

OP posts:
BirdsandBeesmakinghay · 28/06/2021 20:53

I have only bought something once from them. It was absolute rubbish and didn’t work. I found it hard to get in touch with them for a refund. So I won’t be using them again.

TheSlayer · 28/06/2021 20:57

@gamerchick

You didn't really get how it all worked then?
No. I thought the extra email was a duplicate. I have very slight dyslexia but usually don't have a problem. Should have got DH to read it.

I dont either really. I know you have to redeem the thing but sounds like too much faff to me and the reviews aren't that great either. It was a good idea but didn't really last long.

RestingPandaFace · 29/06/2021 10:39

If you didn’t redeem have the given you the value as a credit that you can use against something else - this is what they usually do.

Mumdiva99 · 29/06/2021 10:39

We use them regularly for ticket deals. No problems so far - touch wood, It is the same that you buy a voucher and then have to redeem the voucher.
