To hate bloody costume days? (Help needed!)

Next week school are holding a dress up as a key worker day. My DD is 7 and has no dress up clothes suitable and I am LOATHE to buy a bloody vet outfit for the sake of one day. Can anybody think of anything that would be easy to do? My creative juices are running low!

Get a big red t-shirt from Primark (like an adult t-shirt) and cut it down the front (but not through the collar seam). Then put her in one of her t-shirts and a pair of leggings with red pants over the top, wear the big t-shirt like a cape. She's a superhero, like all key workers ;)

If she does want to go asa vet, could you just send her in her wellies, with a stethoscope and a toy sheep?

shouldistop · 28/06/2021 16:26

God what a load of bollocks that is. I'm a keyworker, I wear normal clothes to work. Put her in normal clothes, she can be me.

MMAMPWGHAP · 28/06/2021 16:27

Buy a loud whistle and some stickers. Send her as a teacher

Normal clothes and an paper ID badge. Don't buy clothes for for it.

Shop assistant. T-shirt and leggings, and she can make a name badge out of cardboard and pin it to her top.

I hate these days too I always have good intention to cobble something together but always at last minute order something from Amazon
I’m glad my DD is off to high school in September my days of this are over

I hate these days too. I'm busy and it annoys me I'm expected to spend at least £10 an outfit a couple of times a year (which is my only option as I work FT and don't have time for crafting nonsense). I think it's unfair to expect it from families who struggle financially too. We never did this when I was at school and we just dressed up at Christmas and they gave us the outfit, but I lived in quite a deprived area, so nobody would have dressed up anyway.

White t shirt, fabric pen. Draw on it to look like a doctors coat. Draw a pocket with pens in and a name tag.

At least they have given you a bit of time ,we got two days notice once when Ds1 was in primary school, the primary school was celebrating its 50 th anniversary so wanted the kids to dress up in clothes from the 60,s Hmm

My DC's school doesn't do dress up days as it's in a deprived area and they know parents can't afford costumes. They don't do school photos for the same reason. Sometimes I wish we could do dress up as I used to love it but overall I think not having the hassle is probably better.
