AIBU to wonder why on earth the powers that be seem to be working against solving this crime? AIBU to be absolutely furious at the justice system and their clear priority to protect dangerous people over our innocent children?

I am in awe of the strength of Noah's mum. Every Sunday at 6.11 she has lead a twitter storm at the time her son was last seen to keep awareness up. She is on week 53 .. how many more weeks must she fight for justice?

Noah Donohue was a 14 year old boy who went missing and was then found naked in a storm drain in an area he was not familiar with and the police automatically said no foul play and did not follow up with offered CCTV within the area. One year today since his body was found yet his poor mum is chasing us leads and trying to solve the case herself.

'Has Stephen Nolan said anything about it? If not, I find that more suspicious than anything.'

Don't think he'd be allowed to, has the investigation even been completed?

There seems to be a theory locally about someone- a homeless person I think? Threatening or attacking Noah and taking some of his stuff and that seems to be the cause of why so many people are convinced there was foul play involved. Sorry if that's wrong, I'm not sure of the exact details.

SummerWhisper · 27/06/2021 23:04

It makes me so angry. I am sick of injustice caused by incompetence or corruption. No police officer should be incompetent, given the extent of the training they have to undergo. Plenty are corrupt. Something about the lack of investigation absolutely stinks. My heart is breaking for Fiona Donohue 💔

Firstbornunicorn · 27/06/2021 23:05

@BastardMonkfish I just meant that Gobby Nolan is usually the first one to vocally support a campaign like Fiona’s.

Hadn’t heard any rumours about a homeless person. Did hear some about drug rings or paramilitaries, but they seem to have been plucked out of thin air, tbh, so I wouldn’t give them the time of day.

Saoirse82 · 27/06/2021 23:55

Absolutely tragic. There's been something so odd about this whole case since the beginning. Noahs family deserve answers, his mum is heroic. #Remembermynoah 💙

yacketyyak · 28/06/2021 00:42

Nolan's silence is deafening.
Like a PP said, he is normally all over stories like this... RHI, Bobby Storey were done to death by him. He has barely mentioned Noah's name.
At this point Noah's aunt has said on record that she would reject any intervention from Nolan. I think this is because he's ignored the case to date.

There are so many rumours floating around, it would be wrong to speculate but one things for sure... it really doesn't add up. Has Nolan been told not to scrutinise the case? If so why and by whom? Or is it as simple and as clear cut as we're being told and we are so cynical here that we just don't believe it?!!

Whatever the case I just pray for his poor mother. That woman is broken. I saw a video she made of their home at Christmas just past and the sadness in her voice was striking. No mother deserves this. That beautiful wee boy was her whole world and I hope the knowledge that she has the backing of #noahsarmy gives her a small amount of comfort.

Fiona if you're reading this, we are all behind you 💙

Stichintime · 28/06/2021 00:47

I hope Fiona and her family find the truth and peace they deserveFlowers

Do you actually know what the PSNI did, or did not, do and what evidence they have OP, or are you merely repeating on-line gossip and rumour?
Streamside · 28/06/2021 18:42

The inquest hasn't been completed but this post has accused the police of incompetence, corruption and injustice. Noah's death is extremely difficult to understand but there is an inquest process underway.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 28/06/2021 18:51

The search was very local to where I’m from in N Belfast. My sister missed him by about five minutes as she drove home from my parents house that evening.

It’s an absolutely horrendous case, and I hope that Fiona gets some clarity and answers.

I do think however that there’s a vocal minority of “supporters” who are using it as a means of pointing the finger at the Protestant community of the Shore Road. That because he was mixed race and Catholic, there must be a racist or sectarian element to what happened.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 28/06/2021 18:57

@LapinR0se

Gosh you are quite aggressive *@SorrySoldOut*. I think the OP is drawing attention to Noah’s mother’s campaign for the most part.
I can understand the frustration from *@SorrySoldOut*

The far-fetched rumours about this case, and the resulting mistrust of the PSNI doesn’t nothing to make our communities safer. There are still large segments of society here who don’t view our police service as either legitimate or trustworthy. These rumours and conspiracy theories compound that.

Firstbornunicorn · 30/06/2021 19:02

@TerribleCustomerCervix I hope to goodness there wasn’t a racist or sectarian reason…but I also hope to goodness it’s being definitively ruled out.

Absolutely. The fact that there were further developments that came to light today re the investigation is heartening that Fiona Donohoe will get some answers.

It’s the conspriracy theorists and people who get their news from Facebook and Twitter thinking they know what REALLY happened that gets me.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 30/06/2021 22:24

I always thought this one was bullshit.

A teenager found naked in storm drain and the best that they can come up with is that he fell off his bike and bumped his head and lost the plot enough to take his clothes off and climb into a storm drain, and no one saw this?

Sorry. Big fat fucking no from me.

I feel for the mum, I'd be utterly broken by their lack of clarity and bullshit.

Firstbornunicorn · 04/11/2021 12:32

Bumping this to add this. What are they hiding??

Hankunamatata · 04/11/2021 12:35

Are you from NI?

This investigation has turned into a republicans against the police campaign in many west Belfast areas. Like everything else in NI politics have been dragged into it.

Firstbornunicorn · 04/11/2021 14:01

@Hankunamatata yes, I am. Not Belfast, though. This is the first I’m hearing of any republican vs police campaign. TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if it were true, but it doesn’t change the fact that something about this case stinks.

RuggerHug · 04/11/2021 14:13

I follow Fiona and I honestly don't know how she finds the strength to keep going. There has to be more that can be done for her(and Noah).

shylatte · 04/11/2021 14:21

Thanks for sharing this OP. I remember reading about it and watching his mum do a video and my heart just broke for her. To lose her only child is bad enough, but to be haunted by the lack of answers takes it to another level. I really pray she gets closure on this one way or another.

Tal45 · 04/11/2021 14:35

I haven't seen this before but I don't understand how they can say his head injuries weren't bad - but then put him riding his bike naked and going in a storm drain down to his injuries. I know they looked bad to his mum but I know my son has knocked his head and had a huge egg/bruises that looked bad but he didn't do anything crazy and was fine. It all seems very strange.

AThousandEyes · 04/11/2021 14:41

His mother said he did have a head injury. From the Irish News:

'In separate newspaper interviews yesterday Ms Donohoe insisted that her son did have a head injury when she went to identify his remains and recalled a bump measuring 16cm in diameter visible across his forehead.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, she said: "Before I saw his body, I was told he had a minor injury to his head. I am his mother and it didn't look minor to me.'

He was seen by witnesses falling off his bike, and seen again a short time later cycling naked. How and why he ended up in the storm drain is unknown, but it is clear that something was already very wrong before he got there.

wingsandstrings · 04/11/2021 14:53

You can have no visible head injury and yet have a severe brain injury. This was proved recently to me when my son sustained a concussion playing a sport and had no visible mark whatsoever, however he was incredibly confused an lost his memory of the preceeding 3 mnths. You can get a brain injury from whiplash for example, it wouldn't even need a blow to the head. It's a terrible case. The lack of certainty must be particularly hard to bear for Noah's mother. But without a doubt people are whipping this up for reasons unrelated to actually helping Noah's mother.
Firstbornunicorn · 04/11/2021 15:01

@wingsandstrings maybe some people are. It’s not my intention to do that and I’m not a member of the accused community. I just think there is a lot that doesn’t add up AND that gobshite Stephen Nolan is still silent on the matter. This is the kind of thing he usually wades right into the middle of.

Whether it’s money, drugs, paramilitaries, or the police did something wrong in the initial stages and are trying to cover their backs, a lot of questions remain unanswered.

MadeForThis · 04/11/2021 15:10

It's such a tragic case and I hope his mother gets her answers. For whatever reasons she has lost faith in the police investigation. She deserves answers. Her 14 year old left her home and never came home.

Too many things her in NI get broken down into Catholic/Protestant/Police.

PamDenick · 21/02/2022 12:26

I’m bumping this thread.
I’m not from NI but I have recently been made aware of a Change petition to release certain police files regarding the inquest into the death of Noah, a 14 year old out in a bike ride.
His mother seems so strong. If you’re aware of this, Fiona, I’m right behind you and your search for the truth…
